urbanbody's advice is correct and the most accurate way for you to resolve your problem.

treefrog's observations concerning the anomalies confirms it.

The ones that need a lot of twisting & twiddling back & forth and shouting at 'til they work I recall were the best riche100 lad.

They should be 240v and rated between 4w and 65w.....so if you search ebay for fluorescent starters, you should see loads and they are very cheap
