Crackle paint

Post by badpenny »

Does anyone out there know how to remove old crackle paint from ancient aluminium castings?

I could just wade in with Nitromores and blow torch, but thought I'd ask first in case anyone before me has watched in horror as the whole thing melted and ran onto the floor?

Cheers

From my experience - the Nitromors won't harm the aluminium castings as long as you scrub it all off thoroughly with soap and water once you're done. I'd give the blowtorch a miss - some of the cheaper alloy castings melt quite easily and lead paint fumes are probably even worse than paint stripper.
