Transatlantic steer a coin game
Re: Joystick steer a coin game
Not a great update but the timber frame is now stained and cleared. I just need to order the glass and build the sign. I used the coin return tray and coin entry I got from the UK - pretty happy with them.
Re: Joystick steer a coin game
Glass went in last night which is good. I can now use it as a work bench lol.
I'll make the header next time I'm playing with wood - not worth making the mess for such a small item.

Two things which are nice ........
Your progress so far, sympathetic and looking professional.
The other: -
Having a dearly beloved who seems content to have large boxes full of clanky stuff hanging around.

Hahaha - yeah she puts up with plenty of my crap. She doesn't come out to the shed much and also avoids the spare room which I've also taken over.
Re: Joystick steer a coin game
Hey guys here's a quick video of the game in action not sure how to add this as a video but here's a link

Re: Joystick steer a coin game
Wow - that was fast (like your restoration work). How many tries before you mastered it?
Re: Joystick steer a coin game
Heaps, and it's definitely not mastered. I tried again after that one and only made the first hole.
Not finished yet but far better than it was and playable now. Still need to strip and paint the back panels and cash-box and build the topper. Unsure what I'm going to do with the playfield at this stage.

Another one with the Trans Atlantic metal backbox, found on one of my old hard drives:

That’s a nice find and looks more like mine with no base.
And thinking back, I remember thinking they had painted it to look like a coke can with that white swirl across the middle. I’m going to have to go digging and see if I took photos half way through the stripping of the paint

Re: Transatlantic steer a coin game
Well would you look at that? Thank you Mr penny machines, I’m guessing mine's a Transatlantic.

That's cool. Now I think you need to reinstate those groovy graphics! You even have a colour reference from your original pictures.
The B/W image was the one I half remembered at the start of this thread - from an old negative taken by the Bollands. I like the top sign with the very simple linear London to New York 'map'.

Re: Transatlantic steer a coin game
Another image found on the hard-drive - very nice cartoon graphics, less naïve, but not the original.
Re: Transatlantic steer a coin game
For me it's a great shame the joystick is so vulnerable to kids slamming the playfield about (when not playing) on these, which make them less desirable to operate than safer alternatives.
Re: Transatlantic steer a coin game
Nice to see the different playfield art. Sadly I still haven't added the stripes or the header.
