John, now we are coming out of the EU you can tell us who actually shot JFK, we all really want to know and we won't tell Jean-Claude Juncker or Angela Merkel. !SHOOT!

I'm as clueless as everyone else, Arrgee. If Donald Trump is elected (God forbid,) I'm sure he'll tell us in his role as conspiracy-theorist-in-chief.

Whoever it was may well come out of retirement if Trump wins.

I would think the graphics on your playfield (names of destinations with famous icons of those cities) are original, dd. Not quite the same, but similar to the first one I posted, which may have been over-painted following the same basic pattern. I wonder if it's original on coin-op's game.

Anyway, it seems likely, being a British game, the makers would have had a British transatlantic airline in mind. The aircraft pictured is not a seaplane, so this points to a post 1949 date:
BOAC was also permitted to spend dollars on six new Boeing Stratocruisers for its key transatlantic routes from October 1949, offering a double-deck non-stop eastbound service from New York City to London Airport (later Heathrow). However, because of the prevailing westerly winds, the westbound flights needed re-fuelling at Shannon and Gander before reaching New York.

I think the top flash should be in the style of a period map showing the destinations. I still feel I've seen a picture of this, maybe on an old B/W photo. !PUZZLED!

Might of been mine dave
This is in my book of machines I have
So it's the best pic I have to hand
I don't know wether my art work is original or not but
It looks old when you see it in the real

I've no idea about the manufacturer.
That's cool to see yet another one, Jingle. Looks like the little stubby backbox is probably right then. When are you going to publish "my book of machines I have"? :)
I thought the picture I had in mind was among the black and white photos Bolland took, but maybe my memory's playing tricks.

That's a good question.

And that red one is my first bet for original artwork. The way the guy's hand is right where the coins return is just too perfect.

I remember buying four of these from the arcade on top of the Great Orme. They were all like the red one Jingle has, so I would say this was the original colour.

Awesome - mine arrived and it was definitely red originally.

Would you have any photos or remember what the instructions would have said?

It arrived and I love it even more now it's here. Very cool little game. I think it's going to jump the restoration queue as it's not very large or complex. Coon Hunt will required a fare amount of room and time to complete and I don't have either at the moment.

Here she is:

Found an old penny wedged inside, so that confirms the game is likely pre '60s, as Australia went decimal in 1966.

Wasn't sure if I should start a new thread but here is some progress on the poor old girl. While the game has been stripped, internal rust has been removed, treated and painted and the external paint has been slowly stripped to try reveal the original artwork. As with most of these old games, it's been painted more times than I could work out.

Finally got some more free time exterior of the cabinet has been stripped and rust treated and primed. I had planned to re-chrome everything and make this really nice but unforeseen spending has halted further visits to the paint or chrome shop for a while so it's getting a coat of red and re assembled.

Here's a 1970s photo of a Joy Stick on location in Bunbury, Western Australia.

Some more progress - it's getting there slowly.

Surround has been stripped and painted back to the original cream color. I hated it at first but the timber frame broke it up and made it bearable.

When I first got it going I only managed to make the course once. Since the rebuild it's far easier due to the rubber stoppers. I need to replace or adjust the playfield stops to reduce the coin speed to make it harder again.

If you lose it's pretty addictive. I''ll make a video once it finished.
