A.B.T. Target Skill
A.B.T. Target Skill
I have just finished restoring my Target Skill I got from the States. Unfortunately, it did not come with a top glass, but I wondered if anyone had one or knew if it was actually glass on there? The steel balls fire out at some rate and I thought the glass would maybe shatter and they maybe used some alternative, but we are talking 1925.

Re: A.B.T. Target Skill
I've had a number of the different models of these earlier ABT games and none ever had a toughened glass. The balls do tend to ricochet occasionally and the glasses get tiny dings over thousands of shots, but the balls are far too small to ever break a glass. Your game is a model F dating from the mid to late 30's. If you can find the serial, though often faded from the paper label, you can pretty closely date it on this Crow River Trading chart link: http://www.crowriver.com/images/abtsnchart.pdf

Re: A.B.T. Target Skill
Widget, the 1925 date is only a Patent cast into the pistol side, the same mistake is made constantly on eBay etc. The similar style gun with that date was used into the 1970's. This is a later model again, often called the Clamshell due to the top casting, pretty sure the masonite cases came in 1939 onwards. I've had many of this model and all ran on 5 balls, any less and they don't recycle properly, and more and they tend to jam at the gun entry.
Re: A.B.T. Target Skill
thanks gameswat can't make out serial number on the paper, will try it with 5 balls
Re: A.B.T. Target Skill
6mm plate glass will do the job
Not toughened Keith
It will shatter with a ball bearing hitting it
Like a side window on cars
Easiest way to break in to a car
I believe
Plate won't break as easy
It would have been made with plate
Anyway (cheaper too )

Cheers bob
I know who to call on next time I'm locked out my car.
I sorted it with some normal glass, hasn't broke yet and I've fired some balls out of it. These are so much fun everyone should have one.
