Remove chrome handle boss from Sega Windsor

Post by radiochrissie »

Hi everyone, can someone please tell me how to remove the chrome handle boss on a Sega Playboy machine. I need to replace the rubber handle return bumper as it has completely disintegrated. This is mounted on a plate inside. I have removed the one nut which attaches the bracket but it looks like it is fixed to the handle boss somehow?
Thanks in advance, I have tried to attach picture but can't seem to do it on this mac. !PUZZLED!

Can't be sure without a photo. I looked through all the photos of Windsors I've restored and don't have a single photo of the handle mech!!

So, at a guess, undo the central bolt to the handle, remove the inside plate that locks into the handle, remove the handle. On most machines there are three bolts that go through the case to the outside boss. Undo these and both the outside boss and the inside bracket would come free.

Like I said, without a photo just a guess. It might be a totally different set up on a Windsor.
You should be able to post photos from a mac (Mr P. !PUZZLED!)

Be sure to take the opportunity to totally clean all the handle parts and lubricate with a thin layer of light oil only, The handle mech is often the dirtiest part of the whole machine. !THUMBS!

Hello all.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but did you ever figure this out?

I'm trying to remove the same part but it doesn't want to move, and I don't want to force it!

Thanks in advance.

Sorry I should have replied to the original thread, but they are not like normal older Segas but are threaded. Also opposite turn, so clockwise to undo and anti-clockwise to tighten.

I remember that, how time passes !OMFG!

I must have a strong right hand as never had trouble undoing these, must be the years of being single  ...... Sometimes a light tap with a hammer help breaks the seal.

I bought one of those at that time, has come in very handy, but used mine recently on a different job and now it's broken.

Remember the opposite thread advice too....easy to forget!

Thanks all. Got it off with a hammer and screwdriver in one of the holes.
