Paint spraying

Post by geordy55 »

Topic moved - Site Admin.

Searched through the files but can't seem to find anything on this.
I've got a few projects and the first one is being used to teach myself more about the restoration.
My question is what are people's preferences to spraying cases, what paints do they prefer and what methods?
Any help and advice is appreciated.

I've just searched via the "Search" panel top right. I only used the word "painting" I found 110 hits.
I haven't read them.
I do remember seeing quite a bit about it over the years.
I guess it varies with the type of machine you want to attack.

You might be trying to make a bandit case look better than the day it came out of the factory or trying to emulate how Bryan's achieved his crackle finish.
Most of those are there.

A search of 'spray paint' should also bring up lots of results, like:
Sega cabinet paint finish
Really good spray paint on my latest hi-top

Thanks for the replies. I did originally search for paint or spray paint but only came up with every single mention of the word but no relevance to the procedure. Think I know what I'm doing now.
Thanks

What you use will depend on what machine it is in my mind, Cans of spray paint have changed a lot in the last 5 years, Rustolium make a good range( I won a prize from them for the paint job on my yellow hi top) but Valspar are better. The German ones in my hi top thread are still as good as any if you can find them.
What machine are you thinking of first?

I managed this slightly crinkled finish by partly blocking the jet on the can

Montana spray paints are the best paints in my opinion - used them for a while now and they give fantastic results but are not cheap. :(
Of course the finish is only as good as the preparation you put into it.
