Picture shows original 10p single coin play marquee plastic.
Also shows an earlier different artwork marquee set PA used.

Re: Newbie seeks Jubilee Riviera help
Thanks for all your help and advice... As I said, I am new to this type of machine, but willing to learn. It has a UK plate on the left hand side, so perhaps it was under licence from the Aussies (or just altered for the UK market). As all the plates on the front are pertinent to the reels and are probably a plastic rather than the glass translight across the top, perhaps that was all done at a later stage. The offer of a decal that says 1 play for 10p would be most welcome.
Let me know!
Thanks DarrenB

PM sent.
Yes original fruit reelstrips Rivieras had glass sets to the left and right of the reel glass window. However, as these sat in front of solid metal panels they were generally not illuminated.
I presume as this was the case when these were revamped to OXO format the revamper chose the budget plastic option rather than glass? As TF states the revamper had the option to incorporate their trademark name or logo and address and contact details e.g. Henry Powell (or PA for Powell's Automatics) and refreshed over time and when telephone codes changed.

Re: Newbie seeks Jubilee Riviera help
If this machine was originally on two pulls for 10p, converting it to one pull for 10p will surely have the effect of halving the payout percentage. From around 80% to 40% making it an unattractive machine to play?

I'm so glad somebody has raised this, I haven't had the cojones to mention it.
The last time I said something about % on here I was justifiably ridiculed and made fully aware why I was never a Rocket Surgeon.

Re: Newbie seeks Jubilee Riviera help
On a lot of machines you would be dead right but on this particular machine not so much. The payout % is of course cut in half but as there are few winning combos and they are high payouts at 5, 10, and 30, rather than the usual single pull payouts starting at 2 and ending at 10 + jackpot, the game would retain its interest. On a site, earning money, not so much but in a collection I think the change is minimal.
Re: Newbie seeks Jubilee Riviera help
Is there any reason why '2 plays for...' ISN'T popular on collectors machines?

Re: Newbie seeks Jubilee Riviera help
I'll let coppinpr come back to you on x2 pulls regarding collector machines,
However as a tiny kid wandering around the arcades those x2 pulls per coin
machines were a goldmine....!
Guys would walk away from a machine with the second pull unused, giving me
a free go. These x2 pull Rivieras were better as so many punters would place an
additional coin before x2nd pull not realising it was x2 pulls per coin, the unused
coin resting in coin return slot, which most punters never even realised existed..

Re: Newbie seeks Jubilee Riviera help
If, as I previously suggested, it's the wrong machine in the case. Then it will be a single play mech and the % will be fine, just change the notice.

Re: Newbie seeks Jubilee Riviera help
That works BP if the only difference is the single coin mech and not the payouts.
As to why two pull for one coins don't seem popular, all the reasons are in Ariso's post, leaving a coin unplayed, putting a coin in every time, the lower amount of winners posted on double play machines.

Re: Newbie seeks Jubilee Riviera help
I've just noticed: This machine has had the 'reserved' flap riveted back.
This was common when a machine left the rarified atmosphere of the 'private club', and joined the hurly-burly ranks of the arcade.
If you went for change in the arcade, there was no guarantee your machine would still be waiting for you when you got back, so the flap was riveted back to avoid possible ill-feeling.
