Bryan's Elevenses coin conversion

Post by alan57 »

I'm in the process of converting a Bryan's Elevenses from a 2p to a 1d.

The problem I'm having is finding an a hopper size to fit the old penny.

The ideal size 1d coin hopper from other 1d Bryan's machines I have is OD 35mm and ID 34mm.

The only metal tube sizes I have so far come across is OD 35mm and ID 32mm, as the old penny size is 31mm, I think that tube will be too narrow, and the penny coin will just bounce out of the hopper.

The larger size tubes I've so far come across i.e. OD 40mm will look too wide.

Has anyone done a coin tube conversion, and what diameter of tube did they use?

Hi Alan55
I have some tubing 34mm id 35mm od about 600mm in length. It is mild steel chromed
I am working in Southport for the next 2 weeks if you're interested F.O.C.
The Bryans clock I bought from you is still working fine, never skipped a beat, also the chrome on the clock is still perfect.
If you are interested I will pm you the address along with my contact number.

Best regards Derek

I have used the standard Table X 35mm copper tube as used in plumbing applications and it has worked perfectly with old pennies . This Table X tube is 35mm o/d with a wall thickness of 1.2mm.
It is available in short lengths (100mm) on eBay.
