I also made some packets of 5 cigarettes as prizes.

That is awesome... I was even fooled by the cigarette slide packs (for some reason the vending packs of 5 cigarettes were called slide packs, I guess because they slide out of the vending devices) - they look original. I have taken two years to find two packs of original 5 pack Woodbine for my machine.

I can now see in answer to my question earlier about one of the knobs missing that these machines seem to come in two versions, yours being with two actuators and mine with three. Your version has a more complex mechanism to release the ball and payout, which required two operations on mine. I guess the two knob version came later to improve the machine and use of hands....

I can only agree with all the comments posted so far. I think you have done an excellent job. Many of us on here would, I`m sure, have been daunted by such a task! You obviously have a wide range of skills which you have put to good use in saving another machine from the scrap heap. Well done indeed!

Safety - killer job! And thanks for showing me up at how slow and tedious I am at my own restorations!? I need to focus on just one project more often and see it through to completion.

I was just wondering if anyone had one of these that could share a close up of their pins so I can determine where mine are supposed to be, as they clearly look like they have been tampered with in the past.
I have found a few pics on google but none that looks like this one in the way they are laid out.
Also, what would the original backflash be on a machine like this, as l think this one may be a replacement?

Would help to see the whole machine as to what model it actually is, but unless very late version post WW2 will probably be the same as a Clown with green cloth. As for pin placement, the original holes will be under the plastic if the backboard wasn't replaced.

I didn't really want to take the backflash off unless it was really necessary. It's the one from Carter's auction. All the catchers I have looked at are different a layout.

A good trick Gameswat taught me is to go to a shop that reconditions pool tables and purchase one of their used felts. It has the patina of age and is perfect for backflash use on a variety of wall games.

I reckon this was a cigarette payout one in its earlier life. The square surround of the original payout cup is typical, the blanked off section in the middle of the playfield probably showed the cigs.
