An odd question.
I'm moving my machines to a larger room. It used to be a kitchen, and has fitted cabinets etc., which I thought might form the shelves on which American-type 'Slots' could be placed.
Trouble is, they just seem too high.
Does anyone know how high Mills-type machines were above the ground, when arcades still had such things?

33 inches would be my bet, most of my bandit stands are this high.

I once looked into this when I had some stands made and agree with radio 33 to 35 inches

Hi brigham, having been in the construction industry since the 1960s, kitchen unit height has altered very little and the average 'standard' kitchen base carcass unit plus worktop and adjustable legs/plinth is still around 840mm to 890mm which equates to 33" and 35"

Interesting that heights have not changed for standards like work surfaces, given humans have continued to increase in height, on average since 1960 by about 2inches.....I guess this has applied in many areas like plane and train seats etc.....

I know this topic has been discussed previously, but I generally find anything below 30inches looks odd. Also if you have an older machine, they tend to be smaller than say a 1960s Aristocrat and need a boost... Also too tall again is wrong, so not above 34 inches unless you're 6ft 6.

You could give Masons Automatics a ring on CLEVELEYS 2434 and ask how high their "D" and "E" model stands are.They must still have them,the photo was only taken 53 years ago at the Blackpool trades fair. I rather like what must be model "F" just behind "E" and with a glass prizes case above the machine area.

Actually a little comparison work does put these at very close to 33 inches
