Can anyone shed any light on the origins of these strips?
It is on an Extraordinary with a single cherry pay.
The mech is stamped MLB but I think the mech is maybe from a later model.
Anyone know when Mills started the single cherry pays 2 machines?

Well, that's certainly news to me. To the best of my knowledge, the Extra Bells are re-vamps and certainly not produced in 1930.

From "An Illustrated Price Guide to the 100 Most Collectible Slot Machines - Volume 2" by Richard Bueschel. 1979 copy.

Mills single-cherry payout was new for '37. Earlier machines with it have either been updated, or, at worst, are fakes.
Usually, an entire later Mills mech. has been installed in a 'more desirable' earlier case.
The 'update' only involves shortening the cherry payout finger, and can easily be reversed. The payout card is probably the hardest part to fix.
Even on later, post-'37 Mills mechs., the third reel payout disc was still drilled for the lemon/bell in the cherry position, making the mech. suitable for either single or two-cherry pay.

The actual cherry itself looks totally different to a Mills cherry.
Are these authentic Mills strips?
Also Gameswat, not sure what the post about the Extrabell means??
Don't mean to sound ungrateful, but cannot see the connection with my original post. Sorry, you lost me. !PUZZLED! !PUZZLED!

There isn't a connection. Coppin posted a reply to your original post, which included reference to the Extrabell machines, to which I responded and Gameswat confirmed - since when Coppin has deleted his post.
