Parkers Jungle Skill/Lucky 18 allwin
Parkers Jungle Skill/Lucky 18 allwin
Hello,
I’m new to the world of slot machine
Just bought this game from an antique shop.
Machine is in fair condition but could use a few parts, if other collectors have a few to sell. I have no instructions to repair it. I’m in Canada so no pennies to play either LOL.
Can someone can tell me a bit of history behind this machine. I’m told it could have been on a cruise boat or something like that.
Thanks!
Patrice

Re: Jungle skill slot machine
Hi and Welcome,
Nice machine and actually looks in good condition for this variant which often lose their veneer. This is a Parker’s Jungle Skill Allwin from Rhyl in North Wales... probably mid '50s.
I cannot see what is missing, cannot see the glass. Are there any ball bearings? Perhaps share a picture of the mechanism inside,
See below thread of many Parker’s machines, including your one.

Re: Jungle skill slot machine
Your machine is NOT a "Jungle Skill", it's a "Lucky 18". It just has the wrong top glass (very rare for top to make a mistake like that ). (If you want the correct one I can supply you with the artwork). Parkers machines like this one are much in demand in the UK at least. It's very unlikely it was ever on a cruise ship (a) the style of operation of an allwin wouldn't suit a moving background and (b) Allwins of the '50s are very much a British thing and there were very few British cruise lines operating with casinos in the '50s. There were still the big Liner lines like Cunard and P&O, but if you were the class of people who played allwins they wouldn't have let you on the gangplank.
Here is a short history of Parkers and their allwins (including your machine) on my www.peny-arcade.info site

Re: Jungle skill slot machine
Thanks so much.
It is a pleasure to learn more about this machine.
Indeed, I’ve notice the bottom art work was not in line with the title one.
I’d love to bring it back closer to the original state so without infringing the rules of this website I’m not sure how to proceed to get the right artwork.
I’ll post a picture of the rear of the machine tomorrow.
Thanks again,
Patrice

Hello thanks for the reply.
The glass was missing, so I had a new one put in yesterday. I’m including a touched photo showing what is missed I believe.
- The two locks, two tubs receiving the ball and something may be on the lower right portion of the picture.
Thanks!
Patrice
Re: Jungle Skill slot machine
The missing 'tubs' may be because a greedy operator removed them so the ball (the machine should have one steel ball in it) will most likely go into the lose hole, situated in the middle of the innermost track, or may have just broken off. The area you have circled at the lower right of picture is where the ball comes out for start of play once a coin is inserted. Don't worry about not having correct coins at this stage - when you have posted a photo of the inside of the door we can guide you through game play without having to use a coin, assuming there is a ball inside, which will probably be hidden from view.

Hello,
Here’s a few pictures.
I feel it is missing a few key components to make it run.
Thanks in advanced for any feedback.

Re: Jungle Skill slot machine
You have said it's not working but haven't actually said what it's not doing. Does the ball not release when you insert a coin? Will the ball not flick? On a win can you not turn the prize handle? If you can turn the handle, is there no coin given?
It does look like it needs a light oiling with a sewing machine type oil on all the moving parts (but keep oil away from any area that touches a coin). The missing ball catching tubes are easily replaced by cutting the correct sized metal tube in half. I don't think there is much missing. The ball needs to be the correct size which might be your problem (can't tell from the photos). It's a lovely machine.

Re: Jungle Skill slot machine
I'm not familiar with the ball release arrangement, but the lever indicated seems to be upside-down. It should come to rest at right angles to the coin guide in which it sits and when it's left-most end is displaced downwards (by a coin passing) it should (via the linkages) lift open the gate which retains the ball at end of play. Not sure if it's just the distortion in the picture, but your ball-bearing looks misshapen (easy to replace).

Hello,
I’ve spent time putting parts straight or to the right shape. I’ve put oil on moving parts and overall it looks in good shape. I’ve changed the ball to a smaller size than the one that came with the machine.
One thing that puzzles me is the handle mechanism that does come back to its original position, although nothing seems to be wrong.
See pictures.
Thanks!
