Has anyone any knowlege of the hopper-payout Aristocrats?
I've finally bought a Grosvenor; good chrome, spins properly but doesn't pay out.
Easy fix, I thought. Slides jammed or not filling.
So I opened the front, and, guess what...?

I don't have anything to do with hopper machines but I do know there is a reset button somewhere inside and, barring that, the most common problems are with the circuit board (which is always bad news).

In my time I've tinkered with three of these on behalf of others.
The most I've achieved is to get one paying out sporadically on some wins.

I echo coppinpr's analysis. The hopper itself tends to be a hardy chunk of gear but controlled by a delicate set of random looking electrics. I'm not suggesting it can't be done, I think you need someone with a workshop from the late 70s with knowledge and spares encompassing electronic as well as electro mechanical disciplines.

...or a spare set of Grosvenor pay-out slides.

.... if I remember rightly ( and I probably don't ) the slides are the easiest parts you'd need to convert it to a mechanical version.
I'll bow to your superior knowledge about that direction.

I haven't even had the mech out of the case yet. I should imagine the vertical fingers do something electrical.
The hopper has an electric eye counting the coins going out. Talk about making things difficult.
The all-mechanical Aristo mech looks like it might fit the console cabinet, if I start getting too depressed with it.

The mech is the same as a mechanical one, just minus slides and full of electro gubbins.....I still have a few buried somewhere and working I think ....I would convert one back to manual though..

I'll be giving it a good examination over the next week or so.
It would be good to have it working correctly, although I'm not banking on it!
