'Double Six' badge is a vintage Daimler boot badge.
I think there is some still on EBay.

Now you mention it I can see the pedigree.
It's a good job you didn't want to call it ESCORT Mexico
My interest is in creating professional looking signs from milk bottle tops and sticky backed detergent bottles.

Re: Groetchen 21
I get most of my ideas from Blue Peter, but this time decided not to reinvent the wheel!!
It was nearly going to be the 'Chicane', but decided on the more up market Daimler version.

Groetchen Twenty One
I’ve just taken delivery of one these from auction. Prob paid over the odds, but I liked the look of it. I plan to smarten it up a bit. It mostly works but the reels brakes don’t work. The reels just free wheel to a random stop. Comparing to a video I found online...
...it’s missing a floating horizontal bar hanging on 5 springs, one from each reel brake. The bar is then anchored to the base by a tie down wire. This is the only thing I can find to this may or may not be correct. Does anyone know for sure or have any further info/pics? If this is all it is it should be pretty easy to create a replacement.
Thanks
Geoff

Re: Groetchen Twenty One
You need the bar which should be easy enough to make, and also some springs to attach to the levers above.
Re: Groetchen Twenty One
Thanks. I managed to get a fleeting glance of the springs via the video so managed to cobble this together with a brass bar and some springs. I didn’t have 5 identical springs so it’s slightly lopsided which I’ll address but it works.
Next question. I’m going to repaint. Looking online, many of the originals seem to be finished in a black crackle paint. I’ve never worked with this before. Anyone any experience? Should I go with it or play safe? Maybe like this https://www.frost.co.uk/vht-black-wrin ... GwQAvD_BwE

Hi
I was wondering if you could help. I am looking for a copy of the game instruction on the front of the machine.

I have a Groetchen Twenty One which I still need to give some attention to and also just getting a Brabo Card/gum vendor.
Question 1 - do these both take the same size gumballs and what size are they? Is there a 'standard' gumball size for machines like these?
Question 2 - does anyone do repro cards for the Brabo card vendor or have the size/thickness for the cards used so I can do my own?
Thanks

Re: Gumballs!
I can make the card as long as you have the details

Re: Gumballs!
Thanks. That’s good to know. Once the machine arrives and I’ve taken a proper look I might well get back to you. Cheers

I've had one of these sat around for a couple of years and finally getting around to smartening it up a bit. It works fine, but needs painting.
The front cover will come off fine but I'd ideally like to get the main lever and plate off the side too for painting. I'm not sure how to do it though. I read in another comment that removing the mech required the case taking apart - which I don't really want to disturb. I can see a square head of a screw/key in the side of the collar which grips the shaft on the inside of the machine. It's not very accessible though. Does this unscrew or pull out? And if I do that, will I be able to withdraw the handle and shaft? And more importantly, will I be able to get it back again?!
Tips from anyone who's worked on one of these would be great.
Thanks

Re: Groetchen Twenty One
So I managed to get it all sorted and pretty and running again. The gum dispenser is a bit iffy but I think that’s mostly due to the fact my balls are too small! Obviously need to grow some larger ones.
Only prob is I’ve just pinged the final screw from the award card frame across the garage with a buffing wheel.
Not sure when I’ll see that again!
Here’s an award card I did if anyone needs one.

Re: Groetchen Twenty One
Thanks. Yes it’s quite cute and I always like a machine where there’s ‘something to do’ rather than just pulling a lever.
I think this one’s a keeper - for now! However, I have just been lucky enough to acquire a sister!
Once this one has been got working a prettied up one of them will definitely be going - space doesn’t allow me to have too much of a good thing so I have to choose my keepers carefully!
