I saw this photo and thought the Juke box MIGHT be British, only because I assume the photo was taken in the UK. I would guess taken in a US forces PX seeing as there is a coke machine and they are all wearing US uniforms except the token Brit/Scotsman wrapped up in a greatcoat. I do hope that if the guy on the right got lucky that night she made him take off those spurs! but then again perhaps she liked that sort of thing :!?!:

Hi Coppinpr

Not one I'm familiar with... Just sent your photo to my friend Tony Holmes.
If he doesn't know, no one will. :D

All the best, dicky

Just got a message back from Tony.
He says...
Looks suspicious really. The machine looks like a Seeburg, but I don't think we had CocaCola here.

So yes, as you say, it could be on a US base here in the UK...
They did do some upgrade kits after the war to modernise pre war machines... so possibly a Seeburg upgrade.

It's a Seeburg Casino from 1939.

oh, there was definitely Coke here during the war, but only in US PX. Within 5 days of "D" day Coke was available at the US beachheads in France, lets not forget coke was a little bit stronger in those days, the US military thought it a good idea to keep the guys "happy"

Haha yes, it is actually a Plaza as shown in the 1939 Seeburg collection I posted above
but if you Google "Seeburg Casino" in google images mostly the Plaza comes up and some web pages refer it to Seeburg Casino Plaza.

Mighty confusing :D

Anyways... looks like it's identified.

Pennymachines has found the correct picture, but it is quite different to the Plaza illustrated on the Seeburg catalogue page posted by dinkywink.

Nope, apparently daveslot called it right and I should use my own advice about not taking what's on the internet at face value. Gameswat PM'd me to say it is the Symphonola Casino, not the Plaza, which prompted me to do what I should have in the first instance - pull a jukebox book from my library and check. The only image I could find was in the excellent Ultimate Jukebox Guide (Brown, Hutchins, Mizera). Seeburg produced three very similar models in 1939: the Mayfair, Plaza and Casino. They also produced the Vogue and Classic in the same year. Notably, the Casino shown here has the continuous wooden sides, as in the old photograph.
