Help with Bomber command mechanism

Post by woody »

Greetings
I have a bomber command machine and have a problem with the mechanism. I think a spring has come off. the coin goes straight through and
does not allow me to then pull the handle and engage the mechanism. A pic of the mech and where i think the sprin has come off is below. The big question
is where does the spring reconnect to....
Any wise advice gratefully accepted
Thanks
Woody

The spring merely keeps the hinged pin in place, so that it captures the coin. As you pull the handle the coin is pressed against the pin until the pressure overcomes the spring and it passes through.

Don't get too concerned about where the spring attaches, so long as it does the job and holds everything in place. Sometimes they are located on the other side of the gate.
Don't forget this is a 70 year old mech and the castings will be rough as well as brittle, chances are the original retainer has snapped off if you can't see anything obvious to wind the spring around. :D
