Smash Hitler

Post by JC »

Did anyone see this on ebay recently? It was listed as a fairground shooting target, but I instantly recognised it as the casting from a BANCo Smash Hitler shooter (see page 177 of Costa's book).
I rather fancied a bid on this, not because I have the machine, I just thought it was a nice piece of coin-op history. It sold for £205, rather a lot I thought, so I guess the buyer was pretty desparate to acquire it. I wonder whether he has the machine with the casting missing?
It would be nice to see a complete machine - does anyone have one, or know of one? I've always assumed they were converted Pussy Shooters.

Split & moved from Pussy Shooter balls - Site Admin.

I saw a Shoot Hitler recently, what an awesome machine variant of the same theme. I believe JC posted about a casting of one about 5 years ago on here... (Above - Site Admin.) Now that is a machine to have.....The Hitler head is huge, such a presence......I will make do with cats for now.

There was a casting on ebay about 6 years ago
Think it only made 300 ish
I wished I had bought it now,
Coz the machine is only a clown shooter been converted
For the war I believe
And I could of converted one of mine
As the hitler looks great,,

Well the casting that sold at the Elephant John Hayward sale made £330, I noticed at the end of last week another one at a auction in Wales sold only for £55.......maybe a bargain one would assume....

The second photo looks like an unfinished modern recast hence the 55 pound sale price.

Me thinks they are from the same box of sand. ;-) Never look a object by its colour.

Not the same, the Hayward was cast iron according to the catalogue. And I didn't say the painted one was right, as I never got to look it over in person.

The painted one was also a recast, but nicely painted by the vendor some 20 or more years ago, I think.
