Gaming Commission License

Those of you in the "operator league": I've been asked by someone what the Gaming Commission license would be for an AWP on 10p. Anybody any ideas please?

As the law stands at the moment, a gaming machine operating on 10p or less (with a maximum payout that I can't remember off hand) does not require a license, nor is the machine liable for duty.
However, any premises operating gaming machines require an operating permit which is issued by the local authority. The cost of the permit is set by that authority, up to a maximum of £2000.
All this is likely to change next year.

I think you may find that the maximum payout will be £3 and therefore qualifies as an AWP (Amusement With Prizes).

It's an AWP regardless of what it pays out or the stake. And having thought about it, I have a vague idea that the maximum payout is £8.

AWP category D is up to £5 which explains why all the Chinese takeaways, family amusements etc., only have £5 max payout.
