1965 Space mfg Multiple Bonus bandit

Post by flashbk13 »

Hi all,
Ever seen or heard of one of these? This is my 1965 Space mfg. Nickle 5 coin multiple, center line pay, progressive slot machine from the Palace Club in Reno, Nevada (closed many years ago). This is rare in the USA, how about over there in England/ Europe. Space is the last name change of the old Pace company (1930s-1940s Pace, then in the 1950s Ace, then lastly in the 1960s Space). Enjoy! :D
If anyone over there has the schematics manual for this, please let me know.

A similar machine made by Bally has just been listed in the USA on ebay item number 260982206337. Nice with the progressive jackpots on top. !SQUELCH!

I wish I could provide more info., but the slot community over here is still tight lipped (have no idea why). :!?!: I've been looking for years for a manual/ schematics for this machine. The closest manual I have for the reel mech is from Pace. Rick.

Years? My god, man, it's only got about twenty wires in it, you could have traced it out in one weekend and published your own schematic.

Hi OB,
There is quite a lot of wiring down in the belly to the left of the reel mech with some more circuit boards you can't see in the pics., well beyond my abilities to trace out. The machine works (I have fixed it a couple times up top), but I just like having the manuals for my machines so if I do get into a fix that I can't fix, then I have the manual/schematics to help bail me out. In this case it's a quest for that manual, 'cause when I'm told no, not available, it just pushes me harder to prove them wrong and find it! :D Rick.

Oh look, it's got a side mount bill acceptor. That machine must have come from Reno. Probably from here -

Name that Bandit...please!

Topic moved & merged - Site Admin.

Can anyone put a makers name to this bandit? a collector in the USA has asked if I can tell him anything about it, its a very late hopper pay machine for sure , a re-cased Bally perhaps? although there is nothing from the coin entry to the cash tray that really shouts "Bally" to me :!?!:

Yes, you're right. When the owner mentioned the mech had "Space Co" on it I not only remembered the machine but already had a photo of one on my web site :dammit:
It's quite a famous machine. It was rushed out to compete with the Bally Money Honey and there was a much publicised debut at the Palace Club in Reno. It was a disaster - the machines proceeded to continuously empty their hoppers throughout the evening for no apparent reason!! Needless to say, they didn't make many and the company was dead within 4 years.
