Be sure to clean or re-paint that back plate inside the light box, the brighter the white the brighter the light from the tube. The Nevada I'm working on has the inside of the belly light box chromed, was very dirty, cleaned and polished it now the light is 5 times as bright.

Just picked it up and fitted it. I am happy. It looks a lot better than machine did previously...
I did notice the image now has small scan lines on it, I can live with it for now but in time may get it redone again.
I only gave a tenner to have the artwork printed and backed with new backing, so I am not going to grumble.

Thanks for everyone's help. :)

Well well well :) got a little update about my Greaves Haunted Mansion.

My 8 track tape was knackered, I tried my best to fix it myself , in the end I sent it to the USA to see if it could be fixed.

Turns out the guy has worked wonders and he has fixed it, he is going to send me original tape back and also upload the audio file so soon as I get it I will make it available to the members here if anyone is interested.

The 8 track guy tells me when asked what was on it "it is a ghoulish ghost laughing with some scary background music".

I cannot express how happy I am to have got this fixed so it now completes the machine :)
finally fixed the marquee bulbs
finally fixed the marquee bulbs

artwork i had help with is now fully lit too
artwork i had help with is now fully lit too

Here is a rubbish video with a different tape being used whilst mine is away as fore-mentioned .. once back I will record a proper video.

Happy days :)

For those that don't know, I brought a Ballymatic / Greaves Amusements Haunted Mansion one armed bandit with a feature top box attached a few years ago.

When you get the jackpot, it triggers an old 8 track car stereo in the back of the top box, and the ghost illuminates and appears behind the curtains and he laughs with you as the jackpot pays out of the machine.

When I brought the machine after bad storage the tape player was screwed, so I replaced it, however the tape was also damaged too, and wouldn't play at all, and I feared the laughing ghost of the haunted house by Greaves Amusements would never laugh again.

A great friend of mine found an 8 track tape repairer online and I messaged him, not with any hope of him saving such an old non-working tape, that hadn't been played and was dried up and snapped in a few places.

Anyway the 8 track repairer has come through so here is the file for those interested (the file is in the Resources section of this Forum).

I will get the tape back in due course :) to reunite with the machine.

Happy days.

Richard.

Well done. Not many would have gone to the lengths you have to complete the machine.
