Finished on ebay today, but not sure about this one on.how much age there is and very crude mechanism, but a early French Stereoviewer did not reach reserve...

I believe this device originally used transparent glass slides which is why there is the glass light diffuser at the back of the case, which is useless for cardboard stereo-views. And possibly the coin mech was added later, though impossible to tell from these photos. I have a very similiar example with original glass slides of the WW1 trenches that are quite chilling. Mine had a very dodgy electric coin mech added in the UK later in it's life that was so bad I had to convert back to non coin. Someone made a shroud that fitted over the rear diffuser glass to stop ambient light coming in, then fitted a globe and simple timer device inside.
