**stop press** Buckley pays jackpot!!

Post by coppinpr »

My Buckley paid the jackpot for the first time since Ive owned it today..so I took a photo of it

Its a favourite of mine, it has a genuine Buckley mech and escalator (not mills) ,the escalator is particularly odd,the coins touch each other with no spacers yet it works very well

Could be, I can't remember, I have two.
I think this was the Coventry one:

Unfortunately, like most Buckleys, there is no jackpot unit, (which is why they usually have that flash JP window plate). It pays the max on slides and the man with the keys pays you the bonus. !!UHOH!!

Thanks Coppinpr. I didn't know that they had no jackpot payout. Pity. Nice looking machines though.

They probably came out of a Nevada casino. Nevada regulations said the prize amounts must be shown to the player before the game, which ruled out the self-filling jackpots since it was impossible to know how much was in one.

The Nevada style payment method was outlawed here in the early 1970s, I think.

The Mills 7-7-7 guaranteed payout listed on the award panel or the Sega Progressive 3 stars award of 100 coins plus the meter reading was either a gold award token (Mills) or nothing (Sega). In both cases, the money would be paid over the bar. British legislation demanded that all the wins had to be paid by the machine. That is the reason for modifying these machines or outlawing them. As a direct result of that, I bought a redundant Sega Progressive Star which had very little wear because it only had 8 years of use in a holiday camp before I made my discovery and bought it.

42 years later, I still have it.
