Dime Charley redeemed
Dime Charley redeemed
Does anyone have any idea what this is about? Makes no sense to me at all. It's out a horoscope machine.

Re: dime charley
Being used as an instant lottery machine Put in your 6d and if your card has one of the winning numbers you take it to the desk to claim your prize Perhaps using the same folded crimped lucky number squares used in fairs.

Re: Bottom of the Slots - The Hall of Shame
"Dime Charley" looks like a repurposed vending machine from a gentleman's lavatory.

Can my Dime Charley come out the bottom of the slots now? lol

Bottom of the Slots - The Hall of Shame
Nice job, do you think the two coin entry/exit slots were originally for his and hers horoscopes? I've seen that on other machines.
Dime Charley redeemed
Quite possibly could have been but seen no mention of his and hers on it under all the rust.

Re: Dime Charley redeemed
Very nice job widget
It's difficult to get any sense of scale, but just going by the coin entries and lock, this seems to be quite a small machine? (certainly not allwin size).
As coppin has inferred, I'd agree this was a 'his' and 'her' vendor - I can't come up with any other reason why it would basically be two machines in one.
Just out of interest, can we see a picture of the mechanism? I'm intrigued to know how the paper fortunes are fed, or are they thick cards like earlier British fortune machines? (Incidentally, I'm assuming this is American)?
Once again, nice job!

Thanks Jerry.
Here is the mech and original paperwork stuck to the back of the case.
It is a small machine indeed and was originally on 5 cents, but always on 6d since is got it.

Look who I found, about 10 on the web all with the same artwork. No mention of "his and her" so I was wrong about that. The artwork does show what the card should have looked like but the other photo shows a card coming out of the same machine and what they really looked like (pretty naff looking card, in fact you seem to have got a horoscope for a totally random date. )
