Aussie Pokies
Aussie Pokies
Hi, Mick from Melbourne. I've been lurking around this forum for a while and after deciding its probably the best source of info on slots, I decided to join.
I couldn't find any decent forums in Oz and as there is quite a few lads from the colonial office here, whom I hope to network with, I thought it best to join and try to contribute.
I've got a few machines, couple posted below, in various condition all of which id like to bring back to their former glory.

Re: Aussie Pokies
G'day drphat, welcome to PMs - The Best slotty Site. Andy P here in Melbourne too.
Nice little 20c Aristo at the end there.
If I may offer a little friendly advice; Be Very Careful as these machines are illegal to own here in Vic, the fine for ownership is up to $10,000.00 per machine and a compulsory destruction order is automatically signed off by the Gov't's magistrate so they can be confiscated and thrown in a crusher.
Now there *is* a way around it but am afraid it doesn't cover any 'gambling devices' that are playable on current currency.
I got a permit from the gambling regulator for 6, 12 then 20 machines but they're on US nickels and UK old pennies and sixpences.
A chap I know in Melb has/had 24 old pokies & US slots in his garage and another has over 30 now stashed in a shipping container up in the bush. Plus there's an absolutely beautiful little rarity 3-reeler in a mechanic's place near me but he simply won't sell it.
PM me if you're around on Fris - Mons daytime and around the inner west.
Cheers,
Andy.

Re: Aussie Pokies
Hi Andy,
Thanks for the advice, did know the laws weren't the best. So old pre-decimal Aussie coins not allowed?
PM sent.

'So old pre-decimal Aussie coins not allowed'? You ask?
In the the 600+ pages of Vic gambling regs, the section pertaining to home-ownership expressly forbids the ownership of 'any gambling device' that redeems a monetary reward or prize. This applies even in your own home.
The question about coin denomination is a curly one as most pre-decimal and foreign coins have a present day equivalent eg: UK/Oz sixpence/US penny = Oz 5c, US nickel = Oz 10c and two shillings our 20c piece. I had the foresight to have all these bowls of old coins at hand when the Gov't Inspector called around having bought fifty grands' worth of the little devils from overseas.
If you know anything about the 1910 cast iron Mills Operators Bell, War Eagle, Mystery/Castle Front, Lion Front, Extraordinary and Poinsettia or the Watling penny Ball Gum Vendor, Jennings Governor or Middlehurst Coronet you'll realize the antique beauty & value of such machines and just how bl**dy daft it is that our nanny state would happily have them sledge hammered.
Yours with the top boxes would not last five minutes should you be dobbed in so keep 'shtum' and whatever you do, always have the coin tray filled and don't allow mates or visitors to actually gamble.
As for spares to get them going, afraid I can't help there and doubt many folk on here can either, despite our esteemed and worshipped leader Mr PMs himself, Gamsewat, Bob, Treefrog, Jingle, Argee, J Peterson and that constant fountain of hilarious but generally useless information person Badpenny you're in for a struggle.
No PM as yet, maybe one of them mods has blocked you coz I mentioned 'useless information'.
I'll go and stand in the corner for 15mins now BP

Re: Aussie Pokies
Isn't useless information our stock in trade?
That's odd - it should appear in your Private messages inbox the same instant it's sent. Is your message box folder 100% full?

Nah, come off it JT.P, I mean, you're very good - extremely good actually, but BP surely rules the roost no?John T. Peterson wrote: I'm supposed to be on the "useless information" side with BP. Let's up the game here, mate.
