Re: Electro-mechanical Wall Machines

I'm so excited - it's a bit like getting picked to go through to stage two in a Readers' Digest competition. The nice Ebay man says he might like to buy my SNAP machines for £400 each.........................once he's sold his.

Re: SNAP for a snip?

Another Snap finished the other day on Ebay, but this time a small wall mounted one by Jamieson's. Never seen one this small, it is tiny and seems to be in a nice solid robust wood case. As usual tempted, but not at the £345 it sold for and non working, but if someone can get it going. it looks a nice machine.

The swinging arm with the switches that roll over the studs on the reels are a nightmare to keep working accurately, badly designed and miss payouts frequently so ok for home use but hard to operate.

This has been on EBay all this year and probably last year, see the Snap thread below. (Now merged above - Site Admin.)
It is a bit like the later Pussy Shooter that has been on ebay for at least 3 years, asking 4 times its value.

Trouble is very little even comes on ebay now and Ebay keeping changing the format. They have lately killed the "Following" concept, which was quite good and very quickly showed items you were interested in on the home page. Also they no longer support the standard Mobile ebay option, so unless you have a later smartphone (and I don't), ebay will not work...... Goodbye Ebay :tarah:

It's yet another floor-standing variant, with different graphics to the one at the start of this thread. At least this one is positively identified as a Streets Automatic Machine Co. Ltd. product.

!!YIPPEE!! The value of my Streets SNAP just went through the roof! The nice seller on Ebay says they're so rare , he's selling his for £4,995.
What is the real value of a Snap machine? I would really like one as I remember them from my childhood in arcades in Hemsby (Yarmouth) The one at 5 k is local to me, I saw it about 10 years ago. Not sure that it was in a good condition, Been stored a long time!

One went for £310 at Elephant house auction some while ago and a wall mounted similar one at £220.
What's anyone got to sell at what price? Thanks

The £310 one in 2012 was a floor-stander and described as 'GWO'.

The £220 compact one in May looked complete but possibly not GWO.

I bought an almost identical one for £300 (posted by Treefrog on the previous page). It needed quite a bit of work to get it fully working - thanks Stuart. !THUMBS!

I think that's as good a clue as you'll get to 'the going rate', as these are the only recorded sales of the game. They don't come up often and, for obvious reasons, the smaller version is probably more saleable.

Is this the same machine being asked about on Farcebook?

If so the photos on there show a circuit board with Rom-Ram-Rim Chips/Chops/Chaps. Seems it would be a lot newer than the Snap machine I had 20 years ago.
That one had micro switches, relays and Gert Great Thumping solenoids. The kind of stuff you could problem solve while eating custard.
Little bits of bobbly plastic stuck to a bit of copper backed brittle sheet does nothing for me.
All I do know about it is that because it works on milliamps instead of good old Green Shield Stamp type amps it's dead easy to let the blue smoke escape from them. It's then impossible to put it back in.

Good luck in your quest. |/XX\|

Just purchased a Snap machine identical to the ones from Premier Amusements Bridlington.
Fully working except for a broken contact on the top bank which makes onto the picture ‘pegs’.
Does anybody know if they are available anywhere?

I doubt you will find the same switch; you need to get creative and be looking for a pinball leaf switch. You should be able to find a near match. !THUMBS!

Hello, I have recently started a project to restore a Snap arcade machine as described in this thread.
I have a similar problem to scorpa163 in that one of the leaf switches that is activated by the drum is broken.
In 2022, moonriver said that he had some, is that still the case?
Otherwise, I will look for a pinball leaf switch as slotalot suggested.
