It will end up in someone's man cave and used to empty their pockets of toonies periodically.

Then they will have other things for other coins.

Once a year or so empty them and go on vacation.

liquorbox - a 'straight-on' view of the Duo Mat, hope this helps with any artwork.

Arrgee I've been playing with the picture you posted to do graphics on the duomat.
I should be able to get this printed on a chrome or mirror vinyl.
The white areas would be transparent so no ink and be mirrored.
Stick it right on the glass and leave it as it is or add a second glass over it to protect it and give it depth.

The only other possibility I can think of (but not sure it would work) would be to invert the image and print it on the non-adhesive side of clear adhesive vinyl, then overspray the rear printed image with your mirror paint. This of course would then stick behind the glass. The question would be whether the mirror paint would react with/dissolve your printed image (I suspect it would). Might be worth experimenting though...

See Artwork for machine glasses for sticking vinyl to glass. Best not attempted without soap and water (as I discovered).

Nice job there "lick-her what!? :o
I too have been thinking about reproducing a cheap yet acceptable reproduction for The Duo Mat.

Your suggestion is the line I'd gone down.

As you say Mr P. you would need to use the transparent printable vinyl ,but the problem with the transparent is it lacks depth, I have painted the rear of it with a base white in the areas to highlight and that does work and the white paint does not effect the print but there is a big difference between matt white and mirror paint of course. There is a spray available from some of the creative paper suppliers to fix printed vinyl, this is available in gloss or matt and simply lays a protective coating over the printed area, that should protect the print.

The problem with the first option, printing on chrome or mirrored vinyl is that yes the mirrored areas would show a good mirror effect but so would the two circles ,these would need to be cut out after the print was attached,do able but not easy

If the white areas are transparent, what about backing with a mirror plastic sheet, easily available, or even using a thin mirror plate as the backing glass, with laminate clear glass on the front

the white parts are only transparent if you print on the transparent vinyl which would give you lack of depth problem otherwise the white parts are the colour of the type of vinyl you print on, If the mirrored vinyl works well as a mirror and you can cut out the circles after attaching I think option one is the best but it will cost unless you know someone with the right sized printer and it will not be easy to attach correctly, good fun to try though, some small tests essential first I think

pennymachines yes I've looked at that post and this would be an option I'd descuss with the printer.
I tried to size the image to fit the glass so you have a starting edge or even two if you start in the corner.
I'm shire this could also be setup that the backing paper is split right down the middle from top to bottom allowing easier lineup of the gameplay circles when puting it on.
Any decent vinyl print machine should be able to cut the circles in the vinyl.

mounting the finished item with the circles already cut out would be very difficult, although Im sure a professional could do it with ease.

I think we are all waiting to see the result, you would be surprised to see the number of duo-mat machines around with no glass

I printed this in black and white on letter size paper and taped it on the glass to check the sizing.
It looks somewhat colored in the picture but is black and white. Lol
Looks to fit nicely.
I have requested a quote to get it printed both as a stick on and a rear glass transfer where you put it on with glass cleaner.

good progress...there is no turning back now **xXx**

If it was me I think Id leave the info card holes open and mount cards behind the glass like the real glass

That's looking good liquorbox, perfect this and you may have a number of takers out there.

I thought the info cards were originally printed on the glass pc, or did they remove the German info and replace with English cards when imported?

They tended to scratch off the German script and mount a card on the back of the glass.

Anglicized mirror glasses were made for most of the German machines of this period, but although the Duomat was a common game, they're usually (if not always) altered for English as BP describes.

Maybe not helpful to nitpick at this stage, but you get better results by remastering your image quite a bit larger than the original and only scaling to fit at the printing stage. Much better to scale down than up. Also, there seems to be a little step in the 'D' inadvertently copied from a reflection on the original.

It will be very interesting to see how this turns out.

Hey Mr. P tell them all about your chat with Jim Bryan (or was it his brother?) and what he said about Duo Mats. ;-)
