You never know what someone may pay in the states, but in the U.K. these sell for less than £200 generally, there were lots imported here. Cannot comment on the variations as there were so many, some had skill buttons or restart buttons, variation in castings and trim.

Hmmn... that price is a little out of the ballpark. Is it really sold? You can still put it in the shopping cart and proceed to payout.

It starts half way down the first page of this thread: The Duomat/Duolett/Rondomat search continues! (I searched "Duomat" under "badpenny").

Re: My Rotomat Juwel and Duomat penny arcades
What worries me with the one on sale is it says "sold" and right under that it says "buy now" ??
No one has mentioned it yet so I will - treat the mech with great care, these were made with what is often called "pot metal" in the UK (I can't remember the real name, BP will know). They used this very cheap, brittle metal because it was only expected to last 3 years. Here we are 70 years later and hundreds survive but the metal is even weaker now. Never try to bend it and check for major cracks and, if you find any, protect them. We have a lot of problems in the UK with the payout slides because they were drilled out to take the large UK penny leaving a thin shoulder to support the slide and they break easy.

Thank you pennymachines
I have quickly browsed that thread and will take a deeper look.

Coppinpr maybe they have that working "buy it now" button because at that price they will track another down. Lol
Are the Duomat Juwel machines readily available in the U.K.?
You don't see much about them online and like I said Elephant House did not show any in the 5 year sales page I was looking at but they did have 7 or 8 of the Duomat.
I will likely be looking for a replacement side plate with the arm stops if I can't find a way to repair this one.

Re: My Rotomat Juwel and Duomat penny arcades
I could find only one other Rotamat Juwel on this site: Lot 177 which sold for £75 at Coventry in 2010.
Yours is far nicer!
Rotomats per se aren't rare, but there were many different models.

Pennymachines, Looking at that one maybe the front on the one that sold high wasn't altered like I thought. And yes, that does look rough.
Re: My Rotomat Juwel and Duomat penny arcades
Ah yes, I bought that machine and got it out of storage recently. Must be having a brain drain as forgot it had Juwel on it....
In the UK a lot of these machines were tatted up with painted cases or Formica, from the worn-out wood veneer.

Re: My Rotomat Juwel and Duomat penny arcades
Treefrog, looking at some of your posts you must have a boatload of machines.
Over here finding anything like this is far and few between.
When I saw these I thought the price was right to grab them and use them.
Getting back to the Duomat glass the stuff in the link below might be useful for the mirroring effect.
Do it on the inside of the glass doing the striping first then this paint?
I would still like to see a closeup of this glass if someone can post it for me so I can see what the glass looks like close up.

Re: My Rotomat Juwel and Duomat penny arcades
It would need to be a container ship, as I think Tom keeps some in a container already.treefrog looking at some of your posts you must have a boatload of machines
Needless to say, it's not easy to photo that glass but here are a couple of attempts.
Re: My Rotomat Juwel and Duomat penny arcades
I have worked on the basis cheap ones with glass always come along. I have bought two cheap ones at £33 and £100 with glass but mech issues and poor or non existent cabinets. I recently bought a cracking one missing its glass, voila you suddenly have one good one with glass....not something your likely to get hold of in Canada of course..
One with glass and cabinet I think sold for £100 at the last Coventry auction, I tried to bid on it, but the auctioneer I think saw through me eyeing up a nice pint of London Pride

Re: My Rotomat Juwel and Duomat penny arcades
Yours seems to be the standard format, with no piping around the edges. The cabinets on the other two are also different from each other.
Rotomat-Juwel flyer
In case you haven't found it, there are several posts on this Danish blog about restoring the Rotomat Jewel.
Re: My Rotomat Juwel and Duomat penny arcades
Thank you treefrog and pennymachines for your posts.
I am waiting for copies of the instruction cards and maybe the duo / mat graphics.
What does it say on the little ribbon sticker on the left (our right) of the bottom of the circle?

"Oben Angezeigter Betrag" - literally, "Above Amount Displayed", i.e. when the ball stops over the green section, the machine pays the amount indicated by the arrow.
That mirror paint looks like it could work for this job. Not an easy task though... The 'yellow' stripes etc. are a sort of matt gold.

Thank you for the reply pennymachines.
Having a closeup look what I was asking was for the writing on the arrow.
I thought it was a ribbon and didn't realize it was an arrow till I got a closer look.

On the originals: "Geldeinwurf" (Coin). On the example above, "Insert Coin Here".

Nearly £860 and over £1 per play.
If it was on Loonies instead of Toonies then that would befit the buyer.
