Re: My Rotomat Juwel and Duomat penny arcades
mounting the finished item with the circles already cut out would be very difficult, although Im sure a professional could do it with ease.
I think we are all waiting to see the result, you would be surprised to see the number of duo-mat machines around with no glass

I cleaned up the circles and updated the image in the post above.

Excellent job liquorbox, as coppinpr has said, it will be interesting to see the finished result.
Re: My Rotomat Juwel and Duomat penny arcades
I printed this in black and white on letter size paper and taped it on the glass to check the sizing.
It looks somewhat colored in the picture but is black and white. Lol
Looks to fit nicely.
I have requested a quote to get it printed both as a stick on and a rear glass transfer where you put it on with glass cleaner.

Re: My Rotomat Juwel and Duomat penny arcades
good progress...there is no turning back now
If it was me I think Id leave the info card holes open and mount cards behind the glass like the real glass

That's looking good liquorbox, perfect this and you may have a number of takers out there.
I thought the info cards were originally printed on the glass pc, or did they remove the German info and replace with English cards when imported?coppinpr wrote:If it was me I think Id leave the info card holes open and mount cards behind the glass like the real glass

They tended to scratch off the German script and mount a card on the back of the glass.

Anglicized mirror glasses were made for most of the German machines of this period, but although the Duomat was a common game, they're usually (if not always) altered for English as BP describes.
Maybe not helpful to nitpick at this stage, but you get better results by remastering your image quite a bit larger than the original and only scaling to fit at the printing stage. Much better to scale down than up. Also, there seems to be a little step in the 'D' inadvertently copied from a reflection on the original.
It will be very interesting to see how this turns out.

Hey Mr. P tell them all about your chat with Jim Bryan (or was it his brother?) and what he said about Duo Mats.
Re: My Rotomat Juwel and Duomat penny arcades
Yes the step off is from the image.
Thanks for noting.
Easy fix.
I figured the cards came on the glass so I would leave them in.
They can be cut out easily if you wanted.
While on the topic do the stripes go all the way to top and bottom or is there a horizontal strip as I put in my image.
I can't tell if that stripe is there or if it's a reflection of the box frame.
Not looking to supply these.
I just want to dress up my machine and the finished image will be there for members to get printed if they wish.

The top and bottom horizontal strips are correct. At the top the visible width is about the same as the width of the vertical stripes; at the bottom it is only just visible.
Re: My Rotomat Juwel and Duomat penny arcades
Thank you pennymachines.
The sign place that I asked for a quote got back to me.
They don't print and I don't want it cut in individual strips, so I'll look for a graphic print shop.
One more question since I don't have access to a glass to compare. Are the graphics and mirroring on the front or back of the glass?

Re: My Rotomat Juwel and Duomat penny arcades
The original cards also went on the back of the glass. They needed to be separate so operators could vary the payouts and, for that matter the language.

Re: My Rotomat Juwel and Duomat penny arcades
Only cards are not 'original' - always a later fix-up. The original glasses were mirror and screen printed complete with instructions and payouts in German. Although coinage was often converted from 10 Pfennig to 1D, operator adjustment of payouts wasn't an option - always two coins on Red and Black or 4, 6, 8 and 12 as per the roulette wheel.
Looking at others, I see some show the same width of vertical stripe top and bottom, so I guess it's just how the glass sits.pennymachines wrote: ↑Fri Feb 09, 2018 3:22 pm At the top the visible width is about the same as the width of the vertical stripes; at the bottom it is only just visible.

Re: My Rotomat Juwel and Duomat penny arcades
Interesting, I've never seen one with the cards as part of the glass, yet plenty with the card areas empty and completely clear (I've had three). Does this mean those glasses are not original but perhaps just made for export?

Re: My Rotomat Juwel and Duomat penny arcades
No, it just means the screen printed instruction/payout areas have been stripped so cards can be stuck in place. If the glasses had been made for export they would simply be screen printed in English. As I mentioned, English glasses were made for most German bandits from this period.
Re: My Rotomat Juwel and Duomat penny arcades
coppinpr your picture on page three looks to be cards separate from glass yet arrgee's post on page four appears to be part of the glass.
I will do mine as part of and in German but being vinyl it can be cut out easily if wanted.
I found a place that said they can do a print to be attached to the back of the glass using windex at a cost of about $30 Canadian so about £18 per print.
This allows easy placement pecause the whole image can be shifted while it is still wet and before you squeegee it
I will hear more from them tomorrow.
I'm sure if I shopped a little I could get it cheaper or if you had a few done on a sheet the cost would go down.
