Thought I would add the recent Gunther Wulff electro machine the Elektromat that sat on eBay for a week. I see there are a few videos from Germany of them operating and as per previous posts on the site are a favoured machine by a few here. Never seen one before and like many was tempted, but £550 is still in my pocket
Was a close call though as it looked a good game play, even if a little scary on the electric front.....when will we see another?

Looks pretty basic, electrically.
Is it actually a gambler? I had dismissed it as a fortune-teller, and didn't bid.

If it had been around £375 then I'd have probably gone for it.

In typical Wulff style he made 4 machines in this style using the same electrics, different glass, 3 in 1952, the Revue (above) which is perhaps the best glass,
Fussball
Ice Hockey
Then in 1957 the rather nasty "JoJo" in a re vamped case
go to www.penny-arcade.info to see more Wulff machines and while your there check out our new "Trade Stimulators" page

I would have jumped at it (if I hadn't already got one). I think they're great and unlike many electro-mechanicals, not too complicated. Part of the charm which you can't really see in the video - as the timer counts down each light-up disk reveals a different bathing beauty.

What dictates a winner? Is it just a random stop?

It pays out when you get both discs lodged over the contacts at the bottom of the pin-field. The sooner you achieve this, the more you win, because the payout then fires as each window lights up. As far as 'skill' goes, it's just a matter of shooting the discs back up over the pins as quickly as possible.

I noticed on German models there appears also to be what looks like a token chute at the bottom, is this what it is and do they exist on U.K. machines and what triggers them?

That's always been a mystery to me, because there doesn't seem to be any means of feeding tokens into the channel. I wonder if it's a remnant of a design plan which was abandoned early on.

Are they just for show though? They're sealed between backboard and glass.

Is it just a clever way of displaying the denomination to be used? I've never seen one but it looks like the coin/token that gets played runs along the top of the row of tokens/coins. If you look at the photo of the "Ice Hockey" version above it shows a long row of what looks like small coins.

Yes, it was probably just a way of displaying what the machine would pay out (which could originally have been mixed value tokens or 10 Pfennig coins). As German games often did pay from a coin run, players would have known what it indicated. The two discs in play are a bit smaller than a 10 Pfennig and have holes in their centres. http://www.antik-automaten.ch/renovatio ... sball.html

Interesting that the last model they made, the 1957 JoJo, did away with the row of coins/tokens in favour of the usual German catalogue of instructions. Compare the number of words used on "Ice Hockey" to those on "JoJo".

Definitely adding these to my want-list. I really like the innovative aspects of it. Are there other machines with similar play where you have to land 2+ tokens on sensors?
Maybe this kind of design is a one-off for the ages! (well, a one-off design with at least 4 re-skins).
Shame, I'd still love one but I've already sold me granny.

A collector friend of mine in Germany told me today this would be considered a bargain in Germany

Can you ask what they go for in Germany normally?
I don't have the cash for this one, but I wouldn't mind owning one some day.

In the age of covid its not so easy.....
Up to 1500 Euro for good condition , last machine (project) was sold (from collector to collector) for 650 Euro.
