I just bought another of these machines and found an interesting bit of paperwork, well I thought interesting, pinned to the back door.

I'm guessing it was this one, sold by Eighteen Eighteen Auctioneers a few days ago.
E Steel, Amusement Caterer of Redcar is a new one to me. It definitely adds something to have this cool bit of the machine's history attached.

I am hoping someone can help, I need to find or reproduce a back cover plate from the coin head on a Caille Ben Hur / Commercial. It's the rounded top version. Does anyone have a photo they could post or maybe even have a spare for sale?

The reason so many are missing their back plate is because they forever needed clearing.

When I had one I made a replacement by buying a small sheet of thin gauge aluminium sheet from a modelling shop.
Make a cardboard template that fits the gap and then cut from that.

It's easy to bow it slightly to fit and add a turn catch from the waste that you cut off.

Cheers, I can make one pretty easily as you say with ali or brass. It would be nice to see if the plate had any pattern on it. I would like to reproduce an accurate copy.

Well, another counter disc Greyhound machine. Anyone know the originality of this one? Obviously another early Brit machine in origin.
