Re: Brooklands machine on Facebook
You might be right. If it were half the money, I would be cautious on this machine as I suspect the mechanism would need significant stripping and parts replaced, new strips and the cabinet is rotten and warped.
There was a Brooklands from a seller in Cornwall who had the below machine advertised on Facebook and eBay for the last 6 months. I think it has finally sold, but looked tidy for £500... I could not understand why it never went quicker.

It never went quicker because I couldn't find a courier that would go to bl***y Cornwall!
I was ready to buy it at the bargain price of £600.

Try Allan at Amicus, he's collected one for me from Cornwall before.
That was a couple of year ago, though.

I use Allan all the time.
He won't go near Cornwall! Perhaps something put him off?

Re: Boland Black Beauty, Screen Stars, Brooklands, White City...
I was going to say £500-600 sounds pricey for a Boland Brooklands, until I recalled the one at Hansons last month.

I think you're still living in 2005. I have not seen a good Brooklands go for less that £600 and currently prices are high. The rough green one on the previous page is a Jennings conversion, but very poor condition. Has unusual strips below......but this I would not pay half what the seller is asking due to condition.....

HI ALL,
just finished tidying up this machine from a recent auction. Been after this one for a while. Nothing much wrong with it, works fine - all pretty much original. I had to stabilise the paintwork with a couple of coats of clear varnish. This seems to have done the trick. The mech was out of line with the payout window, but was easily dealt with. All in all a nice addition I think to my now quite large W.W.2 collection.
