Ruffler and Walker racing games
Re: Lost Ruffler & Walker racer
Maybe a prototype which was put through a few trade fairs for feedback and not taken on for wider production based on operator feedback. As mentioned, there were a lotta mods around, so would have thought it would have been popular.

Re: Lost Ruffler & Walker racer
Interesting, as the scooter style is 1950s. Does this make it one of the first racers made by Ruffler & Walker then? Just a thought. Any more ideas etc. please.
Re: Lost Ruffler & Walker racer
Those scooters remind me of the Zundapp Bella, rather than anything Italian.
There's a little of the Lambretta LD about them, though.

Totally refurbish from top to bottom, as it will be joining my other racers when finished.

Re: Lost Ruffler & Walker racer
These scooters were made by Mettoy in various colours. I have a green one somewhere.
Re: Lost Ruffler & Walker racer
Could well have been based upon the Lambretta MK LD first produced in 1951. The Mettoy models have more than a marked likeness to this scooter.
Re: Lost Ruffler & Walker racer
Yes Arrgee, spot on. Lambretta LD125 Mk.I 1951 or '52 model. Those two rear holes changed in 1953.

I'm sure I've played on one of these before. Many, many years ago. I just can't remember where I saw it. I remember thinking 'that's unusual'. Maybe it was that actual one? Did it come from the Yarmouth area Peter?

No sorry, it did not come from Great Yarmouth. It came from up north.

Re: Lost Ruffler & Walker racer
Just an update on the "Scooter Race". I had a long phone call with an arcade owner who can remember seeing/owning a scooter racer in their arcade back in mid 1960s. So there might have been more than one in the 1960s but could be the same one.

It is with great pride the Lost Scooter Racer is finished. It has been a massive task but the finished machine is fabulous and I hope you like it too.
It is in store ready to go out on site when it's required.

Bryans Penny Go Round
One for the Bryans collector. I have just completed the Penny Go Round and it is currently out working in the Great Yarmouth arcade. It is no 141. Does anybody know what is the correct drive belt and where to get one please as there are only three of these machines left. I have fitted a belt and it works but I would like the correct one.

Wow!! It looks amazing mr merrivale. I`m very jealous.
I have put a copy of the operator`s instructions in the Resources in case you don`t have them.
The only reference to the drive belt, mentions not to get oil on the rubber belt.
