Nuts and Bolts - Where from????

Post by markymark »

Just trying to replace the bolts down the side of my Sega, I believe they are called Coach bolts, they are silver domed with no slots! I have searched everywhere, the smallest size anyone does is M6 (i think this means they are 6mm diameter on top!), I think I need an M5 or M4 or smaller!!! Does ANYONE here know where I can get these from.. Ive searched Google for a week, Looked at maplin, Screwfix, B&Q, Wickes and other hobby and DIY stores, you just can't get them smaller than M6.. AAAaaahhhhh!!!
Please help. thank you

Also any you tend to buy from those sources will be metric ................. so if you don't want to offend the purists you'll need to hunt down one of the suppliers in Americaland.

I'm loath to start recommending as I have mixed experiences, there is one in particular I am quite annoyed with after having spent a fair bit of money with him in the past I sent a small yet to me important order which he ignored. Despite paying by Paypal he just sent excuses about moving his business to another shed, it was too hot to fire up his furnace as it was summer, then it was too cold to fire up his furnace as it took so much more fuel in winter. Requests for a refund were ignored. So here I am over 18 months later out of pocket and no goods. At least he wasn't so dishonest as to pretend he'd sent it.

However http://antiqueslots.biz/index.shtml has been fine, http://www.1armedbandit.co.uk/2580/frames.php is Henry Powell (nearer to home) who has an abundance of spares and of whom you have already posted.
http://www.crowriver.com/ who I think I have bought from without hassle.

Hunt and ye shall find.

No. 6mm is the diameter of the thread, not the top. The head would be about twice that diameter.

http://www.pts-uk.com/prodrng.htm do them down to M5 as standard stock.
Probably have to buy 100 at a time though.

They're probably carriage bolts btw (domed head with square underneath) as carriage bolts are basically a wood screw with a hex head
