I have never seen another allwin without the backflash going right to the top, and I have seen a lot of allwins.

I was just "Wondering" are the cases of the later Wonders machines a different size to the originals? If so, these mechs could have been recased in the more attractive oak ones?

I think you might be right - I have a Wonder Win and a Boomerang. The Wonder Win case is 25 1/2 inches high and the Boomerang is 30 1/2 inches high. If the Bonus backflash was put in to the Wonder Win case it would look right.

MGH,

Are you sure your Bonus Win is an all original Wonders game? The case looks to me to be a BM Co./ Whales remake. All the Wonders games that I own are in the larger case, just like Boomerang.

Nice machines merv :D
I think back in the day the check list to see if a machine was right or wrong was a very short one !PUZZLED!
Question: can you still put coins in the slot ??
Answer: YES, the machine is just right
Answer: NO, urgently needs looking at
anything else not important....

I was referring to the less attractive late Wonders cases. As per this example.

You're entirely correct, Bryans Fan. I had forgotten about these dreadful late model Wonders games even though I own three.

Senioritis or simply early onset dementia? !PUZZLED!

I think the small one I have got is a Wonders. It might have another coin entry.

I don't think this is too uncommon. I have a couple which are also ill fitting. It got me thinking that if these backboards were pre-assembled then fitted to the door, something as simple as the position of the backplate and trigger being out slightly on the door could make a difference as the backboard is fitted in relation to the hammer. I'm probably not explaining this too well or could be talking out of my butt.

The only part of yours which is characteristic of Wonders is the backflash. The cabinet, fittings, spandrels, even the striker box, look more like BMCo. That's not to say it couldn't be an early example made before Wonders had a "shop style" but it doesn't resemble other first generation Wonders allwins.

I did enquire about the Bonus. He said the gap is 2cm and has no keys for the machine.
