The TWGAZE auction had some stellar machines at incredibly low prices. !OMFG!

Ridiculously low prices unless there was something wrong with them. Shame I never knew about it. People do keep these things to themselves don’t they.

Would you share on the forum of a local auction to you with loads of machines in?......I know occasionally people do, but usually when they have no intention of buying something themselves. Those may remember when I first joined the forum, I used to post every nice find, even ones not so easy to see on here, thinking I was being helpful. I started getting private messages and comments, kindly advising that you just don’t do this, e.g. stop !OMFG!

So, I did and now only post in advance things that are obvious, like say Morphys in the states. I even avoid making comment on a machine that has serious issues, e.g. the recent Jennings Witches Cat before the auction has ended, as of course the seller may be a member on here. Didn’t help much as it ended up being relisted 3 times....

So it’s a Catch-22........to be honest, I thought I would have found lots of known faces as word gets around. It only takes one......perhaps this one got away, shame as I only bought a few of the lots....

No, whenever anyone learns of an auction they keep it to themselves rather than let everyone know, so that they have less competition when the bidding starts.

I list the major sales there (see Cottees this month), when I know about them. Users of this site are encouraged to do so also.
The occasional items which turn up in auctions all over the country (and beyond) mostly appear on thesaleroom.com (see Sourcing in the Archive).

I've just corrected that for you "geordy55". There are also those who happily share and talk openly when they are aware of upcoming "available" machines.
They tend to get criticised or nagged a bit, for it.
Also don't forget the "Diary" is open to all. Anyone may add an event to it.

Individuals either want to share the hobby, their knowledge and help others or are more interested in what's in it for just them.
A situation I expect exists in all hobbies and societies.

well I appreciate everyone in all the coinop communities that happily share upcoming auction info, so if that's you, THANK YOU!

I know on a bunch of other boards I'm on we often eagerly share cool stuff we see on Ebay, Yahoo Japan, and in upcoming IRL auctions.

Results from Spicers sale of Arcadia, Fine Art, Antiques and Studio Pottery in the Arena.
This East Yorkshire sale, which included remnants of the late John Gresham's collection, appears to have garnered some press and radio interest, although I only spotted it on thesaleroom.com a couple of days ago.

I almost went, but remembered some of the other collectors auction I drive 4 hours to see only to be blown away on price. Today no difference, but I did get a few bids online just to feel part of it. The Waltonian below looked unusual with a metal Art Deco case instead of wood. In terrible condition, but must have been stunning in the day.....looks to have coloured light panels in the corners !OMFG!

I photographed this Waltonian back in 2005 and gave a print of it to Pat Gresham the next time I visited in 2007. Pat said Jon had taken it from an operator even though he didn't want it, which he often did knowing that they may call again with something he did want. It was left outside in the woodpile for 35+ years as seen here. Pat really liked it though and talked about having it moved closer to the house to be used as a flower planter in a garden feature.
