Electric amuser without the kick?

Post by coppinpr »

Not knowing much about allwins and having just bought an "electric amuser" at Coventry this machine caught my eye on Ebay today. I assume the company made this model as a "no shock" alternative. Am I right? Who was the maker by the way? Although it says pays a 2d ticket, I guess it was a token? Date, around 1914?

I'd date it over a decade later and believe it was made by the Coin Operating Co. of Birmingham. The defining features are the curly coin cup surround, fancy trigger plate and triple-arched gallery shield. The distinctive spandrels were presumably lost when the backflash was replaced. It probably also started life with a carved pediment. Take a look at this thread: New member with Allwin
'Ticket' seems to have been synonymous with 'token'.
Is the reserve ball feature intact?

Notice the cabinet has been extended at the bottom by an operator, presumably to make deeper space for bigger cashbox?

and yet the famous "electric amuser" court case was 1914 !PUZZLED!

The ebay add says "3 ball reserve fully working" can someone tell me what the third ball (left side) hole is for? The amusers don't have this.

Just worked it out, must be for the ball return on a token win, yes?

That refers to Monarch Automatic Company's Electra Amuser. If you look at the images below my post about the case, you can see what that antique allwin looked like.

The 3 ball reserve is fully working and in tact, the 3 ball tube is behind the tin foil on the instruction card, for some reason the owner wanted it left this way, for why I have no idea?
When I changed the back baize for him there was no spandrels on originally or they would of been put back on.
And it pays out tokens on a win which Is the same as my other electric amuser, they have random awards on them, 1d 2d 3d etc

That was a nice shocker you got Paul ;)
