There have been frequent discussions on numerous threads with regard to sale of slots on ebay, with regard to gaming commission & permits. I got a call today from someone regarding his "shpock" account. I have never bought or sold on this relatively newer site but have looked through it from time to time. Anyway, suffice to say he said it's not exempt from the investigative arm of the GC......but these were modern pub bandits. Strangely Ebay has been relatively lax of late on removing slot listings.

I'd suggest the GC are overstretched, under resourced and their priorities as dictated by their paymasters may be more aligned to tracking down and busting

Whom it seems are quite enthusiastic about operating without licences.
It also appears that back street Bookies with those 2 second games are in the ascendance with money launderers.

None of this of course means they are turning a blind eye to those selling machines nor would they ignore it if it was brought to their attention.

Look at the rest of officialdom and services paid for by public funding.

eBay are still removing machines, but seem to be selective, maybe the one's with ridiculous prices (I wish they would) like the Aristocrat Grosvenor Console on the other day that had no belly glass and was completely missing the coin entry. Initially put on at £450, which I thought was bad enough, then increased to £995.....Suspect eBay decided it breached it's rules on greed

I spoke to a nice bloke from ebay a few weeks ago and he explained there was no robot selecting them, they only get removed if reported then they check them out. He said it's impossible for a robot to see if it has been listed with a licence number or not and if that was the case they would not even get past the part of being listed.
I also got my ebay account suspended for 7 days because a member sent me a message with his phone number in it asking to do a deal outside eBay. They scan your messages if you remove a listing.
The member who sent me the message however never got suspended or even a warning.

I think the seller is normally always more at risk

Talking about prices even some parts have gone mad, the seller of the below handle had a reserve not met, even though it hit £80 , I have dozens of daggers handles and may be tempted to release some. Of course knowing my luck they would only make a tenner

I emailed him very early in the listing and he said that the replating cost him over £50, so not surprised he had a high reserve. Whether they did charge him £50, obviously I don't know. It seemed steep to me, but he may only have had a few items, so maybe they charged a min fee.

TF, that Grosvenor seller, I'm presuming had agreed a price but awaiting collection, so probably just raised the price so it wasn't bought by someone else. Unlikely, but you never know, 'til the buyer turned up to pay & collect. But eBay removed it for him anyway! It would have saved him removing the listing and then relisting if the buyer never turned up?

That has always been my belief. I've always thought someone spends time and effort reporting old slots on Ebay. The big clue for me is that the modern electric slots that actually still have a use for gambling don't get removed. My guess is it's someone who stands to gain by having more slots offered to him to sell... Now who could that be?

Well if it is a person or persons, am intrigued to know how successful they are. Fortunately I have a life and no time for these types of shenanigans and often miss machines now. Also rarely contacted sellers trying to get something, unless it was real special.

i know a lot people do this regularly and know who a lot of the people are, given when I have bought machines the seller has often tells me the names and locations of people doing the hard sell, e.g. eBay will remove the machine, so you need to sell to me

Recently a lot of machines have sold off net through the hard sell recently, always intrigues me how people are willing to end early. This morning the below Aristocrat Carousel was removed and listed for someone to buy it now at £175, which seemed a lot given the appalling condition.

I did though last week buy a Riviera, believe it or not the first I have ever owned for £40, so I guess some get through and that was not through persuasion or shenanigans...

Those Jubilee celebrity machines are great looking machines. I have had 3 over the years and every one was almost new old stock inside. Have kept one, but I only have 2 Jubilee Rivieras left now - the celebrity and 4 reeler on Aussie 10 Cent /Shilling. Thankfully you bought it for considerably less than this one on offer at 2000 Euro...

I wonder if the seller of that dagger handle a few weeks ago regrets not taking the 80 quid with their list still on eBay for 90 but accepting offers.

Fantastic mechanism! I wonder what American coin is the size of our 5p? I thought their smallest was the 1 cent which (almost) matches our sixpence.

not sure where the cowboy was, but looking at the dollar Hi Top, certainly should not think there are many dollar machines in the U.K. I know they popular in US and probably would have a higher value there.

Not usually into American coinage machines, but I could of fancied that and looked to be a possible original 50's vegas casino machine from the Horseshoe Club....

I see him. I think I would much rather have a cocktail waitress than a cowboy in my house Seller's right, not many come up for sale and, unless originals, seem to go for around a few grand. Still I would have preferred the horseshoe dollar machine. Apparently it came from an early Steve Hunt auction around 12 years ago. I remember going into someone's abode a few years back and they had lines of cowboy and Indian figures.

The cowboy is being run on a two shilling coin. Had few later Aristocrats with two shilling option and a couple of Jubilees and there was a console Jennings at the Elephant House a while back I think, badged Gibraltar Casino being run on the same coin. Maybe there were so few made/converted back then that correlates to so few being about now?

I just remembered I do have a full size dollar machine, an Aristocrat Regal. I remember posting pics of the giant plastic slides on here some time back. Must dig it out as it has a rotary escalator, although disabled to allow the giant coins through.

If the Polk figure survives the eBay cull, I would guess 2750......but I guess we will never get to know. I know the dollar machine had people falling over for it and I reckon was cheap at 1200.....
