Agreed, and as it is with eBay, it's a case of "caveat emptor" - let the buyer beware, if you buy without seeing. A choice you make when you buy. I should add in defence of Steve I have twice bought "blind" as I couldn't get to the auction, and in both cases he personally dropped them off to my home despite being 2 hours away.

Is it me or do the prices of some styles of machine seem to be dropping again of late? For some reason Hi-tops seem to be going up both at EH and on ebay, while some bandits and some allwins seem down recently. Depends on the rareness of course. Unusual and rare machines will always demand higher prices. Perhaps it's the quality of the machines at EH, as yet I've never been. At the very least prices seem to fluctuate wildly at times.

I guess apart from the Hi Top what machines do you see as dropping in price and increasing. Over the years I have seen cycles, Jennings stupidly high, then crashing and now getting better numbers. Seems to me '30s machines currently have lost their mark and later items from '50s/'60s are doing better, probably due to newer interest being later.

Certainly old wood based Allwin should, catchers etc. seem to have a dip unless quality, rare or have a visual appeal, but like all antiques this is the case with items.

Bandits overall seem to be popular at the moment, I guess a wider audience.....

Did the electric shock machine not sell? Can't seem to find it.... And why was the Mutoscope so cheap................. . (resto project)..

I had the shocker down at £720, Dockmaster Crane £630, Mini Sega £220, Chinese Crystal Gazer £1,800, Shield Catcher £680, Victory Flags £920, but apparently none of these made reserve - Arena record corrected.

The Mutoscope was incomplete/project.

Does anybody know today's results of Wonders Steeplechase, Airship wall machine, Heureka?

I gave up capturing prices long ago, but I thought these machines were low in price. Not sure if they even sold as may have had reserves... I think the Wonders was around 760, Airship maybe 600ish and Heureka I think was around 400, but it looked like it had been re-cased.

Older machines and allwins seem in general to be in a depressed state, whereas bandits are rolling bars $$$$$$.

The Wonders went for £840, the Heureka for £420. Sorry didn’t make a note of the Airship. All plus commission of course.
I thought the prices of most of the machines were reasonable compared to the highly inflated prices recently (mainly as a result of two guys who just wanted to outbid for everything not being there today).

The latest results are now on the EH site. I notice several lots that were in the catalogue are not on the results list. Do they not list unsold items or are lots disappearing before the auction starts (nothing new at auction houses)?

I see the Merkur from the January sale was back in on the June sale and only raised £180. Has a horrible exterior pebble dash paint job. Still twice what I paid for my one.

Also the Bainbridges sale had an unusual machine I do not recognise, looks like a two reeler. I wonder if this is American machine as look like it might be on cents, anyone know Cheap at £80

I see the empty Playball is on show from Chippenham. Not my worst buy I have to say. I can't quite remember the Sweepstake machine but it looks good. Thanks for the update.
