In fairness the description is accurate until you get the bit which has clearly been copied and pasted from a US site. I wouldn't be too harsh on this seller and he/she does have 100% feedback. Maybe I'm being too kind for once.

I never noticed the escalator and jackpot were missing until Paul pointed that out on his post, but the back hood is there on one of the pictures.

Yes, the rear hood/backbonnet is present as widget says. He had bids from people on the forum first time as previous posts elude too, at around the price the machine is at currently on ebay and, as he says, he has two almost identical, then if that's true, then the underbidder will probably get a second chance offer to buy the second (that's of course if it stays on ebay long enough...) Maybe when they get around to collect them they may buy the other machines he has too.....

Yes, you are being too kind. Copying info from another place and using it totally incorrectly in your ad is perhaps worse than just lying. Then there is his own line "believed to be complete". Believed by whom? Clearly not the seller because he's actually looked at it. Like I said, this machine IS sell-able, at the right price and honestly offered. At the price it is now I would have bid, in fact. Interesting also that there is no photo of the mech from the front, possibly just an accident but also, as I said, I don't trust people who sell like this. I've always been the "keep it fair and straight and they might come again" type of seller not the "grab the money once and run" type.

When you consider that buying and selling on ebay is pretty much dependant on photos this ad seems a little odd, especially when it's clear the seller has a nice collection of other machines. The machine looks to be quite an interesting one... but who knows, as you can't really see it? The real worry is the ad says "sold as per the photo". Would that mean there is only half a machine then?

How could anyone possibly imagine he would get the best price for anything advertised in this manner? Six out of focus pics so dark as to be be impossible to see plus a one line description which includes "needs a bit of a wiggle to make it work" and, ludicrously, "see the photos as part of the description". Crazy

He's been trying to sell that machine for nearly 2 years I think.
If you check his other items you'll see how he just keeps relisting every auction he's run for it, and all at different prices.

You're English is fine, also I suspect English is probably his first language.

Gets boring seeing the same items on eBay, always a warning to those who push over priced machines again and again. You are likely to permanently put off buyers as a number of people do it. Never a good thing seeing the same machines listed many times.

Interesting this machine is more than twice the price of the one for sale at Junktion Antiques, who are not the cheapest. Not my cup of tea and a big lump of metal - a real specialist collector lot for those with a passion. Reckon worth no more than 400 to 600 if lucky.

Why would you post the same machine for sale at 5 different prices on 5 separate listings ?

I would actually like to have this machine, at the right price. It reminds me so much of their early underground ticket vending machines. I contacted him over a year ago but still he puts it on at unrealistic prices. I'd love to get a quote for delivery from Shipley. After all, it's just the same as any other slot machine as far as shipping...right?

Hi. In reference to Malcymal at start of this thread. Here I am and I'm still alive! Haven't been about for a while due to usual life dramas, such as health but bouncing back slowly. Haven't bought any slots for a few years now but still got about 8 which I still play. I still sell on ebay but not machines in a very long time partly due to the hassles described by many others. I've found better luck on local ad boards near to private estates and facebook. I agree that detail is absolutely key, describe in a listing the defects that you would find as the buyer if not described. By knowing the defects when you buy off ebay you wont be disappointed when you pick up item which leads to your experience in leaving feedback positive; you need to maintain that positive record for next sales. Of course the great put offs for me when buying on ebay are clear lies or deception in description.

e.g. Old penny slot, used to work a year ago, but don't know if it does now - So how difficult is it to test, plug in, fix - clearly this means it's got a major defect and they couldn't fix it or too expensive to fix - Avoid.

Also, show photos of the defects, e.g. if chrome is rubbish on one panel but good on other, show the difference.
Detail and honesty lead the buyer into thinking the seller knows what they are talking about. But always leave the statement after the defects as positive. Such as "All in all, a good example of an honest machine with 50 years of patina".

Good to hear you're still around Malc and hope your health continues to improve.....you still got your Roma, lovely looking machines.....I seem to have accumulated 5 of them and not one works
