I'm looking to buy about half-a-dozen 'bandits' in the region of £500-£1000, as a result of having extended my little 'games room' into something resembling a seaside arcade.
I can go a bit higher for something special; I'm currently looking at a Mills Roman Head, which needs work, but will probably end up costing me the best part of £1400 all done. It's still on British number reels, which is something I'm keen to have, so I'm likely to go for it.
I would have liked the Mayfield advertised earlier; it was right at the price, but I couldn't face the journey to collect it.
If anyone has anything in NE England, I'd be delighted to consider it.
(I have a seperate section for pre-decimal Bally types, too. It's on the 'dark side'!)

Oddly enough, I'm looking at a Riviera at the moment. I have a pair of Internationals, which are not exactly exciting, but not a Riviera.
Is it the famous Mini/Maxi?
I can't find a year of introduction for the Mini/Maxi. I tend to avoid decimal stuff, and the earliest of these I've seen was a 'change-over' one, showing '1/- (5np)'.
Could be interested. Anything else, to make up the load?

The trouble with O-X-O conversions is the number of extra 'holes' (usually round) you have to weld up to make them take proper reels again.
Once you've done the first one, you probably know it was 'one too many'.

Probably 1960s at some point and on into the early '70s. Many variants exist as has been mentioned like Lucky devil of which I have a few with original parts in. They also existed on many types of machine from Hi tops to Lite up variants. Also Aristocrats and Sega Windsor/Continentals had similar type win features.

Someone will correct me, but I believe it allowed operators to get around the law in paying a jackpot type wins, but requiring a coin to be inserted to get your win each time meaning you are within the 10 coin limit per play.

Another Hi top Horseshoe variant was at auction a week or two ago, but without the top marque.

The 'feature' on these 'Lucky Devil/Lucky Horseshoe conversions was the forerunner of the '£5 + Repeat Chance' we may remember from the AWP pub machines in the '90s.
The 'Repeat Chance' was on the next 'go', so was still within the £5 max. per play.
The whole fascinating history of slot machine gaming revolves around this endless undeclared 'war' between the innovators and the authorities.
