I also collect old guns and model motor racing cars (Scalextric). Both interests involve swapmeets at regular intervals somewhere in the country, often Birmingham, the National motorcycle museum being popular, for example.

The ESSENTIAL ingredient in making these events successful is that collectors will turn up expecting and hoping to add to their collections in one way or another.
This 'trade' also involves social intercourse over coffee naturally, where one's general knowledge of these things can be increased, and social contacts made.

However are there enough slot collectors likely to attend such a swapmeet with 'stuff' to sell of swap, in order to garner the attention of other collectors?
I think that is the first and most important question to answer.
If 'yes' then these events would work I think?

you can only guess the numbers who might come by the only two purely slot events that already happen,EH and Coventry. The reasonable number who attend these events would make it seem to me that ,as long as these events were few and far between, and there was stuff to buy they would be well attended,Provided they were advertised sufficiently to the right crowd .

There has been a lot of positive replies on this thread. An annual gathering sounds like a great idea if enough enthusiasts can get together and work something out. I would like to see other amusement machines on show, which would appeal to a wider audience. And what about the gaming laws, would this cause any problems??

There was one at the Coventry Auction in 2014 in lovely condition, can't remember how much it went for, formed part of a complete Bryans collection that was sold over two auctions.

that one sold for £1300 and was also in a streamline case, it would have perhaps gone higher but was immediately followed by a "ninecup" at £1600, a "Forks" at £1400 and a "U win" at £1700 so the choice was good that day.
