French crane?

Post by jimmycowman »

This crane seems cheap. On eBay at the moment Will it be made in France? I thought nearly all the cranes came from the USA?

You mean 'INTHEROOM' would be a better location marker? :HaHa:

Cowman, the crane appears to be some kind of copy of a Bonzini and Sopransi French turntable crane, but with a much simplified overhead gantry system? Hard to see in your pic but there is a claw hanging down so I presume something is hidden up in the roof? There were in fact tens of thousands of French cranes made in the '30s, the only real competition to the yanks.

That's Yanks with a capital "Y," Gameswat. We may be currently led by an idiot but we're still officially uppercase.

Is the Merchantman worth £2000?
It's the walnut cabinet, which is plainer, but also not so tall, which is possibly better for domestic use.
Looks in good order, inc. the electrics, which are often horribly mutilated.
It's in Cardiff, which is a bit far for me, but the seller will accept a courier, at buyer's risk and expense.

As often said on here …….. "If someone is prepared to pay an amount then that's what it's worth."
