The Sport shield catcher looks an attractive machine. Is there a particular reason why no maker is credited?
The 1996 halfpennies must be rare!

I just assumed they were the much lamented 1/2 np that we all miss so much. Mind you I guess they were withdrawn before that?

I can't make any promises but I will TRY to post at least some of the results of tomorrow's auction live from the auction possibly on a new thread. This will depend on internet connection, battery life and available time. I will try not to make mistakes but, as I say, I make no promises.

I'll be interested in that, it means I can do all the paperwork before the event.

But won't folk revise their bids based on the results, causing some sort of fatal temporal paradox?

IMPORTANT NEWS … IMPORTANT NEWS …IMPORTANT NEWS …IMPORTANT NEWS …

COVENTRY AUCTION THIS SUNDAY
The venue has just advised me that Coventry City Council in their infinite wisdom are running a half marathon in the City Centre.
This will not affect our auction, but if you don't plan your route carefully it could slow you down and frustrate the living bejesus out of you.

In essence the route is a loop around Coventry and they will merely be closing roads to traffic. The auction venue is in the middle of the loop.

half-marathon.bmp (6.41 MiB) Viewed 3700 times

With a bit of forethought it will be possible to avoid because ......
There are marshalled crossing points as follows: -

Lawrence Saunders Road to/from Lydgate Road Closed 8:30am - 12:00pm
Browett Road into Moseley Avenue (exit only) Closed 8:30am - 9:25am
Kingsbury Road to/from Grayswood Avenue Closed 8:30am - 9.35am
Coundon Wedge Drive to/from Pickford Way Closed 8:30am - 9:40am
Browns Lane to/from The Windmill Hill Closed 8:40am - 9:55am
Brownshill Green Road Closed 9:15am - 11:15am
Cedars Avenue/Southbank Road/Courtland Avenue into Scotts Lane Closed 9:15am - 11:30am
Browett Road into Three Spires Avenue Closed 9:15am - 11:30

These are available first thing in the morning, so those of us staying in hotels the night before and wanting to be at the venue for 8.15am will be ok. Those of you who normally arrive nearer 10.00 am shouldn't be overly inconvenienced as they say ……

Most roads will be closed from 7.30am and will reopen in route order, once the runners have passed by.
Roads should start to reopen around 9.55am and will be fully open by 1.30pm.

So to conclude: -

Everything going ahead as normal
Either get there very early (Especially Vendors please) or delay your journey so the roads are back to normal.

If we feel it's necessary we shall start the auction a little later in order to accommodate everyone.
Anybody called Mr. Mainwaring shouldn't panic.

I've sent out a message from the auction website to all of our vendors, as it is they who might be slightly inconvenienced. For the benefit of everyone else, here it is:

Hello again.......I hadn't expected to have to send out another update
so soon, but it's important you read this, just to be prepared.......

There is a half-marathon taking place in Coventry on Sunday - the day of
our auction! It shouldn't cause us any disruption, but please note the
following:
It's likely that most of us reach the venue by turning onto the Holyhead
Road from the inner ring road. The ring road won't be closed, but a
section of Holyhead road will form part of the marathon route, although
it won't be closed as such. However, there will be crossing points for
the runners which will close off access for traffic between about 8.30
to 9.30 a.m.
No one attending the auction, other than the organisers and vendors,
should be arriving before 10.30 anyway, so you won't be affected.
Vendors are required to arrive from 9.30 onward, so might be delayed
slightly, but it shouldn't be a huge problem.

See you all Sunday

Please note that no one other than vendors should arrive before 10.30 - we really don't want the sale room swarming with punters at 8.00 in the morning, and there is no reason for arriving early anyway - you shouldn't be affected by the marathon.

Once again, see you all Sunday

Jerry

Live from Coventry

Post by coppinpr »

Topic merged - Site Admin.

It is Sunday (I checked with JC, BP and a native American Indian - 2 out of three agreed it was Sunday. BP wasnt sure). The Coventry marathon which has sealed off access to the venue for a while may be causing machines to arrive late but most are ready to go, although the start might be delayed - we shall see.
