eBay specials

Post by treefrog »

Some interesting bandits turning up on eBay recently,

Firstly a War Eagle Console machine and real close to me, which has now been removed. Never seen a War Eagle version in a console and wondered whether it was an original fact item. People went mad for it with bidding hitting over £1800 and then bouncing down and up and down, 5 retractions, could not work out what the issue was, anyway gone now

The next one is still on eBay, a Mills oddity or should I say a showman’s conversion of maybe a Hi Top as it has the bumpers stuck on the front and the original back door fitted with cut-outs for the door lip, why on earth they just didn’t stick a ply door, god only knows. Sadly it looks like the door has been butchered and the lock hole flattened and sealed......not the prettiest of machines

I didn't see the War Eagle Console. An interesting find. I haven't seen one either. This was in Essex/Colchester?

They were based in Bury St Edmunds. Apparently the guy's father ran amusement businesses and this was a machine that was kept from the early days. Definitely not been touched, but I wondered if the case was a later retrofit as were these around in the early '30s.

Never been a massive fan of these consoles as they are so big and a lot wider than the hist machine. I preferred the later slimline consoles made by Jennings and Aristocrat, much sleeker. Having said all that, would happily have one in my collection, but not at £1800. :HaHa:

Of all the machines to keep that is an unusual one. Mind you, did he sell it or was it withdrawn by eBay?

That merchandiser is near me in Norwich. It's a salvage dealer.
I think the price is optimistic, to say the least!
He also has a French crane which is a snip at £16k :HaHa: :HaHa:
