September VCA Auction
The catalog for the September auction is up on line. It's in Las Vegas, but with the dollar as sick as it is, you all should have no problem getting over here, buying all the best pieces and still having change for a gallon of petrol. Virgin has direct flights.

Re: September VCA Auction
Thanks for the heads up. I've put a link in the Calendar.
Lot 120 is a German-made 1920s Jentzsch & Meerz Domino gambling machine. Looks like the original paperwork and linkages are intact (90% of these games have been revamped) although the decorative card spandrels etc. around the frame are missing. I can't see the dice reels but assume there's a mech inside! One of these without original paperwork, linkages and coin acceptor made £835 on eBay a few days ago. Item number: 140244284957.
That Bradshaw Little Stockbroker in the sale has been very tastefully restored.

Re: September VCA Auction
The Domino looks like it's in quite good condition - shame about the Roll Out the Barrel award card. I've seen other Dominos that have been converted to Roll Out the Barrel machines, so presumably the dice reels (wherever they are) now have barrels on them. Fortunately, the original artwork is still intact, particularly the two moving elements (the men's arms shaking the dice), so I guess this machine wouldn't be too difficult to restore as original.
By the way, I don't know if I'm missing something, but I can't find the link in the Callendar.

Re: September VCA Auction
You're right Jerry, the auction on 30th is "200 Lots including Music Boxes and related Musical Items" which includes some gaming machines, trade stimulators etc. BUT the auction OB was referring to is indeed September 20-21.
All these dates are marked on the Calendar and they link to the Victoria Antique Casino Auction homepage where you can find full details of all forthcoming auctions plus some archived sale results.

Must...Have... ... ...Need...Money...
Anyone want to buy my wife? Ok then, how about my soul?
Twenty-one of these were made for the Golden Casino in Reno, which burned down in 1962. This is the first one I've ever seen come up for sale. It's lot 187 in the VCA auction.

Re: September VCA Auction
Rather than sell your wife could you not persuade her to dress in the appropriate gear and stand for hours next to one of your bandits mounted on a replica stand? Obvious solution, everyone`s happy.. well almost everyone!!

Re: September VCA Auction
The Allwin fetched $375 ($442 inc buyer's premium and tax)
The Jentzsch & Meerz Domino fetched $3,700 ($4,357)
The Little Stockbroker fetched $1,400 ($1,649)
The girlie holding a Pace slot went for $13,000 ($15,308). I didn't get her ... I console myself by thinking how many real cocktail waitresses I could get for that money. Shoot, I wouldn't have to pay 'em, just flash the roll.
