Machine lighting

Postby glittering-prize67 » Sun May 01, 2011 5:57 pm

I have an old machine with a 30 watt ballast supplying 2 x 15 watt tubes. It has 2 starters in the circuit but I just cannot get it to work. I could put 2 ballasts in but it should work as is. Has anyone got any wiring ideas to make it work please?

Have you considered using low voltage LED strips instead, that way you can mount the transformer outside the machine... at least you won't get sued, or worse! :!:

Thanks for that, but LEDs won't really shine through the glass. Anyway, I have now got them working properly and safely, so if anyone else gets stuck, I may be able to help.

I'm not a electrician but here goes - Some years ago I had a problem with the small strip fluros when renovating my juke box. I replaced the starters with FS-U, 4 -80Watt starters (typical large size fluro tube startes) that in theory should have worked, but didn't. I was advised to use S2, 4 - 22Watt starters and they worked OK. Maybe this your problem. Best of luck.
