Mini Falls, Penny Falls

Post by toibs »

Anyone have any pics, info etc on these, or can give me a rough idea of their value?

All I know is that it's a single player 2p machine.

Cheers,
Paul.

Re: Tuppeny pusher made by Jezzards??

Post by badpenny »

By searching Google it keeps popping up but the links lead nowhere. So by looking at the Cache pages we find one once appeared on eBay.
Also it seemed to go or was being offered for £399.00. Also...........

COINMATICS LIMITED (Registered No 01002018)

Business Summary Link to this company
Registered Office
223 REGENT ST., LONDON, W1R 7DB, UNITED KINGDOM
Incorporation Date 09-02-1971
Type Private Limited with share capital
Status Dissolved

If you check the museum on this site you'll find a version of his Socca machine which was a counter top.
He made various machines of the Tippa coin or tip something over and they keep being offered.

Jezzard made three countertop pushers that I know of, all in identical cabinets: Rota-Soccer, Mini Cascade and Mini Cakewalk (pictured in the Arena). They were made just before and after decimalisation, so you can find them on 1D or newer coinage (easy to convert). The ebay one seems to have been called Penny Falls, which I think may be the same, in all but name, as Mini Cascade (also made as Mini Falls.)

From what I understand, this is a single player, poss full size, apparently it's "fluorescent colours - really ugly"!!!

Don't suppose that's consistant with any of the above is it? :D

Sounds about right. These games are all Formica, fluorescent lighting and brash graphics. As BP puts it, "beauty is in the eye of the bee holder".
Jezzard must have made some floor-standing versions, and the absence of "mini" in the name would be a clue I suppose.

If you are registered in the Arena, there is a very useful guide with pictures of mini table top pushers, which should cover the machine you refer to:

Hi there, it's not a table top pusher? It's a stand alone 1 player affair?

Also not sure what Arena is, so prob means I'm not signed up...

Thanks for your reply. Hoping someone can help.

Would recommend you register, as not only is there information of auction prices obtained, there are many articles and you have access to the Resources section on the forum, believe it is only £2 per year.

This link to the Arena also covers the history of the pusher and Cromptons:

Hi riche100,
I've merged your query with an earlier one about a small floor-standing Dennis Jezzard tuppeny pusher called Penny Falls. The only Mini Falls I'm aware of is the counter-top Jezzard machine shown in the Arena post that TF linked to. (BTW, the Forum Resources category can be accessed free by all registered members).

Could we be talking about this one? Sold for $220 in New Zealand on 28th March !PUZZLED!
Antique Cromptons Mini Falls Coin Pusher
This was originally made in the UK by the leading arcade machine company Cromptons who are still in operation today!
This was one of the early machines and was a non production line that would suggest they were made as a prototype but never carried forward into production it was built around the mid 1970s and I have been in touch with both the Cromptons company and an avid collector and follower who is currently writing a book about coin pushers who have valued this machine at anything from a minimum of 300 (UK pound sterling) upward.

It looks almost like a copy of the aforementioned Jezzard Mini Cascade (also Mini Falls), being a similarly scaled countertop game on a stand.

We could indeed - here is mine :) I picked it up last night :)
Need a motor - any ideas?

The motor in it does work but then stops... You push on the side of the motor and it works happy, take side pressure off the motor and it stops again?

Any ideas? Mine's marked Cromptons and has a vin plate :)

I've stripped the motor down and re-greased. It seems to be a lot better now.

Hopefully, here is a pic of the motor.

I did have better ones, but deleted them - sorry.

Good old Parvalux, the mainstay of many a good electrical piece of gubbins.

They power many a Doner Kebab machine and are bloody expensive if you need to replace, check eBay.

Should you ever need to replace, ensure you go for the same Voltage AC or DC and RPM, as they do just about every combination you can think of to cater for the world. And above all, make sure you get constant or continuous rating.

We have seen them at the Coventry Auction and they usually go for about £90.

The machine or the Parvo gearbox?
I may have paid over the odds, but I love the machine.

I was going to say strip the gearbox and see what condition the worm wheel is in. When they get worn, they can tend to jam up, but too late, as it would seem you have got the job sorted !!THUMBSX2!!

I was talking about Parvalux motors with gearboxes, usually taking the drive through ninety degrees.

Table top pushers at Coventry can be checked through Auction Results in the Arena but, off the top of my head, they often go for £300 plus.

As for paying over the odds, many of us on here don't consider that an issue when talking about our favourite machines.

Well done in getting it running.
