Grammarians' delight
Grammarians' delight
Well there I was flicking through the paper whilst enjoying my brekkie cuppa and the following caught my eye and I spilt me Vegemite..
'UK Council rules that apostrophe must be left alone, full stop'
'To grammarians' delight, local officials in south-west England who had considered expunging apostrophes from street signs threw out the idea and vowed to follow the rules of proper English'....
....'The proposed ban on the mild-mannered apostrophe drew criticism from throughout Britain and media attention from as far away as Australia. Proponents of good grammar lambasted the Mid Devon District Council for even thinking of killing off such a useful punctuation mark and for lowering the standards of civic discourse'..
Nice one council!
Moving swiftly on, here's my War Eagle.

Yes that little bombshell dominated the headlines here for a day and a bit around ten days ago.
It threw other less important bits of news like Comical Kim in North Korea on the verge of introducing Nuclear War to Capitol Hill and our own government penalising those on benefit for unused rooms in their homes when there aren't smaller houses to offer them.
Whereas I am a supporter of keeping the apostrophe
It won't be too long before the world regards Microsoft English as the norm, unless Mr Angry of North Korea bombs them at the same time as The White House of course.
Moving swiftly on here's my siren from one of Mr Butlin's dodgem cars .........

That was the point.
There is a comical website displaying examples of its misuse which is where I got it from. Here's another one ......
