Hi, my name is Laurent and I live in Belgium,
I've bought a nice little machine, but I don't know anything about it...
Can someone give me information about a model, manufacturer and build year ?
Thanks
Laurent
( I will post some pictures of it )

Re: What kind of Machine is this ?
Daveslot is, of course, right but if you're interested here is a little more info on the type of machine.
You can find many photos on this site of what the machine looked like when it was made, just search for Beromat. The reason it got rebuilt is this. Slot machines were only allowed to be built in Germany in the early 50s if they were either destroyed or exported after a very short life (I think 5 years) so hundreds got exported to the UK after their German life. Some kept their original cases and were re-branded to take UK coins but a large number had their mech's removed and put into dozens of different (what were considered at the time) modern cases.
As the mechs were only expected to last a few years they were made of very cheap metal (often called "pot" metal in the UK) which breaks very easily, but here we are 60+ years later and hundreds are still going strong. The weakest part is perhaps the coin slides which are well known for breaking with age related metal fatigue .
I've seen the "Roma" before and believe it or not it's one of the better looking cases.

wauw, thank you so much for the information Daveslot and coppinpr.
Do you guys have any idea what a machine like this would be worth?
( not trying to sell it, but so I know if I overpaid it )

Malcymal says he paid £110 for one in 2009.

Re: What kind of Machine is this ?
I paid £100 for one in 2011 or thereabouts and just sold it as part of a job lot for around £180, so "arrivederci Roma"

Re: Revamped Beromat-type Bandits
It's been a while but another one has surfaced on eBay that I haven't seen before.
It's hard to tell from the grainy photo but it looks quite classy. I shouldn't be surprised if the case cost more than the mechansim.
It even has the original handle.

Same as the Viscount. See the two or three pages earlier on this thread. There was at least one other of this type, again different name. Normally they are on 1np, but have seen them on old penny.

That's the most entertaining ER2 post box I've ever seen set into a wall.
What's this?

This machine has cropped up on fleaBay over the weekend. Does anyone know what it is? There's no name on it and the only marking I can see is a part number stamp on the bracket for the pull handle (painted over badly...) Looks a bit Heath Robinson? No intentions of buying it, just interested what it is - I keep making my learning curve steeper every week!!

Re: What's this?
They show up as "Viscount", "Duchess" and "Princess" and possibly other regal or non-aristocratic names.
I think they are re-cased Gunter Wulff Beromat type mechanisms with the numbers replace by fruits but I could be wrong.
When the German machines were converted or re-cased they were more likely given names more appealing to the British taste, hence the Roma in your previous thread probably being aimed at the coffee bars of the late 50's early 60's, when milky frothy coffee in a glass cup was about a tanner and a good deal nicer than your high street chain cappuccino of today at £3 and more.

Re: What's this?
A slightly different machine to the three mentioned, the name that comes to mind is Sterling for this British conversion of the good old German machines..
This is a seriously rare machine and probably worth many thousands of your hard earned cash, so be quick I can see the rush

The missing bit that apparently broke off will be difficult to replicate .... unless you have a donor machine.
It's the deteriation of monkey metal thingy.

Re: Revamped Beromat-type Bandits
Well this one is a bargain and I thought someone would have hit the buy it now button without looking at the detail given the price, even taking offers....."the King" a few mentioned earlier in this thread a big lump of plastic covering the old beromat worn out brittle junk......
Seems a bargain, only missing the badge, rear, original base, but with lots of extras like a large colony of worm......
